Best made American Auto

Since we are limited on our selection of firearms in California, I decided to ask the free US what they believe is the best made American made auto pitstol. Caliber be damned, who makes the best all around American made auto pistol?

I don't believe there is any one brand that is head and shoulders above the others, but if you go with one of the following you can't go wrong:

Ruger
Smith & Wesson
Springfield
Colt

For a 1911 - Ed Brown.
For a blow back 22 - S&W model 41.
For a plastic gun - Glock.
For a non 1911 steel pistol - S&W's 3rd gen autos which are not longer made.

For mass produced pistols I like SIG though the HK45 is also American made.

Other than everyone posting their personal favorites, I don't know how it would be possible to prove "the best".

With Glock and Beretta having US production and Sig having majorly cleaned up quality control, there are lots of great American-made autos.

I'd say a tie between a US-made Glock 19 and US-made Beretta 92-series. Both of those companies are so outstanding with their consistency of quality control that they're nearly indistinguishable from Austrian/Italian makes.

This sort of question always gets the same answer, which is basically a list of all the guns there are that fit the basic criteria.

No one can decide what is "best" for anyone else.

Very difficult question, i would say Ruger auto pistols for striker fired guns, for overall reliability, accuracy, and toughness. Gen 3 glocks are top notch as well. You also have all these 1911 makers, who can build an exceptional pistol that lasts a long time, is very accurate and very reliable. So the question to this answer does not exist. I think SIG is out of this one, their current product is not even close to what it used to be. Chipping and galling of frames, bad customer service examples, on top of poor performance in torture tests i have seen, via youtube. Some HK pistols are now made stateside, and very good handguns they are

When I first saw the thread, I was thinking Ford. :)
But if I was rich, I'd pick one from column A, one from column B and so on.
So many good shooters, so little money.
