Best Grain for 9mm rounds

147 grain subsonics. The only way to go, when shooting out of these! ;)

Use *lead* bullets in a long barrel. Jacketed bullets will start to lose velocity at about 9 or 10 inches in 9mm due to friction.

funny?

The 357 SIG is designed around a 124/125g bullet.....I guess the Secret Service and the Sky Marshals and the Texas DPS and some other LE folks didn't get the FBI bullet weight choice report.

I load 9x19 using bullets weighing from 115g up to 151g.
For non-social shooting I much prefer the 124--135g range.
For shooting people I use 115g and 124g JHPs launching at high speed.
For ultimate accuracy I start my development using 147g jacketed bullets.

To me, the 'single' choice for ALL purposes is the 124g.

Of course, you can't boost a lead bullet to the velocity of a jacketed bullet in the first place....

9mm ammo brands

Hi all:

Is there a favorite round many of you like in 9mm. I have used tons-o-reloads to target with but as a good load for protection does it really make a big
difference?

thanks in advance.

ginny:D

Yes you can absolutely boost lead bullets to any and all handgun velocities. I reload ammo and do it on a regular basis, as I never shoot jacketed.....no need in it.
I have a 44 Magnum that's never seen a jacketed bullet. The barrel is always clean as a whistle.
