Best “feeling” handgun …

DA Revolers-

Square-butt K and N frame Smiths with Magna stocks feel good to me, along with the Redhawk with its factory wood grips.

SA's-

The 1860 Colt hands down, followed by a 4 3/4" Colt SAA or direct copy. I can get along with the New Model Rugers (large frame) adorned with hard checkered grips. Ruger Bisleys are OK, too.

Autos-

1911's & CZ75's fit me; I've 'fit myself' to the Glocks as a matter of survival. I get along best with the 3rd generation G22's and 2nd generation G23 grips, but I shot a G21SF the other day and they've pared that one down nicely. I actually did decent work with it at 25 yards from a bullseye stance, so something must have been right.

Us guys with 35+ years on handguns have seen a menagerie of designs pass by. I soon learned that the ratio of adaptation, for lack of a better term, is about 85/15 for shooter to gun.

Pick a gun that meets your needs, fits you pretty well and can be easily modified to clean up that last 15 percent. Then live with it, master it and ignore everything you see in gun magazines until you've actually shot something that does it better. The gun and accessory hawkers won't like you much but I seem to be able to sleep well, all the same.

The Baby Eagle is the handgun I remember as having the best feel in my hand. And yet, I've never owned or fired one. I guess the handgun with the second best feel must have had more to offer me. ;)

After all the handguns I have own and still own, I actually like the feel and natural point of aim my XD 45 gives me-- thought it was sort of ugly-ish before I bought it-- but after shooting it some 3 years ago, it has rarely left my side...

Colt Single Action Army with the checkered eagle grips. Unfortunately, I don't own one any longer,.....

Othewise, the Smith 19 with earlier factory target grips, and the Ruger SA I made some one piece rosewood grips for. Both feel very good in the hand and allow decent fast shooting by feel.

the best feeling, most natural pointing handguns i own are my uberti cattleman s/a 45's and any of my 1911 semi autos. for me these guns feel like a natural extension of my arm/hand. no ther guns i own or have held have that same feeling to me. that feeling translates into quicker more accurate shooting.

5.5" barreled Colt SAA or a similar grip/sized/style revolver. They got the pointability right when this gun was designed.

The 1860 Army is also nice, but I am just picking from centerfire shooting guns that I own.

I do agree that the Sig P232 is a good pointing gun too.

Best feeling handgun to me is a 1911 with smooth grips and an arched MSH. I have two that fit the bill and are the favorites of my collection.

easy decision

my Ruger GP100 is the most balanced and natural feeling gun that I have ever held.

Cant wait to put my rail and red dot on it :D
