best CZ?

I am really leaning towards a 75b or a 85 combat at this point. I went to a gun store today and held the sp01 and wow it was a chunk of metal! it felt liek it just wanted to point at the ground for me while to 75b was a natural pointer and felt amazing. The trigger pull was awesome.

Aside from personal preference, is there any advantage either way between the decocker and safety models. Is there any advantage at all to the single action only model.

Also I see a the Omega trigger cannot be upgraded the same way as the original 75B but being an improved trigger would it ever need it?

Last thing, I posted this because I am wanting to get into an all metal hammer fired gun. All I have so far are plastic striker fired guns and would like something a little different. Im between a cz75 and a 1911, what do yall suggest as a first hammer fired gun?

My favorite member of the amazing CZ handguns family is the CZ 75. I like the original CZ75 and the CZ75B. CZ85 is an enhanced CZ75.
In my opinion, there is no need to "improve" it. The CZ75 is perfectly fine out of the box and the more you shoot it the better it gets.
Of course, you can chose from a range of flavors, in terms of size, safety / decocker , finish, etc.

The SP-01 seems too heavy for 9mm to me unless the rail really means something to your. But that's an opinion. If I were going full size I would just look at the CZ 75B options and then try to decide on safety vs. decocker. The 85 you mention I think is the one without the firing pin block. Research the pros and cons of that before going that way.

I personally like my P-01. For 9mm, you don't need a huge gun in my opinion and the P-01 size and reduced weight alloys over the standard CZ 75 line are a nice thing especially if carrying. I think the P-01 and the P-07 are just right sizes and weights for a compact 9mm. The P-07 is slightly bigger (width and height) but has the advantage of being configurable for safety or decocker.

P-35HP posted the best looking CZ!

Round trigger guard, spur hammer, original grips. Although a stainless one might look even better...

As far as advantages of safety vs decocker, the decocker model is likely to have a somewhat rougher trigger that is more difficult to work on and doesn't have a safety for range situations where you may want one. The decocker has only the advantage of allowing you to safely lower the hammer to half cock if you prefer to keep it that way (I do). I would be tempted to go with the safety model for a gun intended primarily for the range

That weight soaks up a lot of recoil. Not that 9mm kicks all that hard but it does allow for pretty quick follow up shots. I love my SP01, especially with the SRS Kit from CGW.

Even for fun I prefer the smaller CZ75 Compact. Normally I'd prefer a full size for recreational use like the 92, But I never quite got used to the CZ75. I like the grip but the whole package was so-so for me. I liked the 75, I just didn't love it like I do the 92FS The 75 compact though, a whole different story. The gun is perfect IMO. The size is great and the balance is perfect. I love this gun, even as much as the 92.

I have a 75 pre-B, 75B, 75D PCR, Kadet, and 97B. Just get a 75B to start. It is a great all around pistol, and you could even end up carrying it if you wanted. Mine is my nightstand, and range gun, but they all get shot.

My friend has an SP-01 that I've shot a lot, and it is also a great pistol if you want a rail.

What's your intended usage of the gun? I mean that kind of narrows it down, it's hard to recommend a gun without knowing if you're going to carry it around all day long or only use it on the range or something in between...

I own a SP-01 Shadow and I love it. I don't have any problem with the weight but I'm only using it on the range and as HD. The trigger pull is distinct and crisp and the precision is excellent. You get 18 rounds in the magazine so it's a great gun for practical / dynamical shooting like IPSC/IDPA.

My favorite is the SA.

Good trigger and a perfect mount for the Kadet Kit.

Here is the SA with a Kadet Kit mounted.

Brando1992,

Yes, that is a stock trigger.

I also own a 75 Omega and used to own a SP-01 and a 97B. I just find the SA trigger the best of them (for me anyway).

I think the biggest point to make is to avoid the Omega triggers. You just can't do a lot of work on that system.

I am glad I did not take this advice. I did some work on my P07 (Gen 2) along with some spring swaps and my DA/SA trigger turned out excellent. ;)
