Best Compact in 40 S&W

In your opinion, which is the best compact semiauto out there chambered for the 40 S&W?

I've gotta go with the HK USPc in .40 cal.

Mine is accurate and manages the snappy twist of the .40 caliber much better than other .40 cal pistols I've shot (Ruger, Sig, Glock, and Walther).

It's a quality build firearm that meets all requirements for concealed carry.

Gimme two!

What's compact? Compact like Glock 23 compact, or Glock 27 compact, or smaller? I only own 2 .40's (Glock 23 and Sig 229), I'm kinda partial to the Glock 23.

I also feel that the HK USP40c is a great gun, but it does stretch the definition of "compact" a bit much.

Peronally, IMO in anything smaller than a Glock 23 you'd be better off going with a 9mm. It's what is commonly known as the law of diminishing returns. You lose enough mag capacity and gain enough recoil that it's no longer worthwhile.

HEY RICKMEISTER:GUNNUTS HERE,Just my thoughts,For real compact I carry a KAHR K40 stainless in winter,in summer I carry a KAHR MK9 stainless,Another very good choice but a little bigger is the SIG P239,They come in 9mm,40S&W and 357SIG,I have one in 9mm very good shooter.

G27--9+1 capacity . The most firepower for it's size and it's still fun to shoot. Recoil isn't too bad and you can still hit well enough to plink soda cans at 20 yds. I had an HK USP and it wasn't compact at all. You may as well be carrying a full size 1911.Actually , I think my 1911 carries more comfortably than the HK because it's so much thinner.I am talking IWB carry.I am not knocking HK, I own a Tactical full size, It's just I can't understand why they call that brick sized pistol a compact.:D You gotta love their quality though.

Keltec P40

10+1, 23 oz. fully loaded, 3 1/2" groups @ 25 yds, very managable recoil (it IS a 40!!...) thinner than a 1911, under $250.....if you can still find one......

Kahr MK for "really, really compact". K 40 for just "really compact".
Probably, the 239 for just "pretty compact". Cz 100/HK USPC for "still compact enough" and Taurus PT940 for "compact".

Shoot well

Compact .40 - HK USP 40c, and the G23 not far behind.

Mini .40 - G27.

Easy choice...just have to decide if you want a smaller than fullsize, or a real compact.

Best 40

I would have to say the Glock 27. Saw a friend of mine put 5 in 1 hole at 7yards using Sellier&Belloit. Went out and got me one too. Just wish I could put 5 in one hole. Must need more practice.

But, it is very well made and very accurate. G27 for me!!!!:)
