Best caliber and gun for CCW?

What is the best handgun and caliber for CCW

There is no "best" gun, period. People are going to answer with what they like, are comfortable with and prefer themselves. It's like asking "what's the best sports car made?"

Go rent a few, shoot a few. Fire Glocks, Double action 357 mag revolvers, 1911s, etc etc. See what fits your hand well, what is ok weight wise, and what is small enough to conceal on your frame. Different frames and builds of people will not all be able to carry the same guns concealed well.

What is the "best" concealed handgun?

That depends not only on the individual but also on the changing circumstances of each individual.

So the simple answer is it depends . . . .

At a minimum it must be one that the individual has when needed for defense.

Just do your self a huge favor and do not buy a Taurus. So many of them break and fail. Its worth it to just pay the extra hundred for the equivalent from S&W or what ever style you are looking at.

Don't take my word for it though, do a search for Taurus on here and you will see why.

Don't be distracted by the handful of people who "LOVE" their Taurus. From what I see half are only because it hasn't broke yet, and the other half because it is the only 357 they have ever shot.

And they all love it because it was cheap, until it breaks.

if it is ONLY for concealed carry I would get a 1911 in compact size and 45acp caliber with the aluminum frame. Carry it IWB with a quality leather holster.
