Best 9mm semi choice for large hands

I own HK's, Sigs, Berettas, Rugers, Colts, etc, and my favorite pistols are my CZ's. Like others have said, this gun store guy is either being misleading, or doesn't know what he is talking about.

You must have some seriously big hands.

CZ's are great, so you can't go wrong with them.

You could always grab a +2 mag extension for the Glock 17 mags, largest backstrap on Gen 4 and you might be in business.

Going to be needing extended mags on whatever choice you make, luckily most models offer aftermarket (or OEM) extended mags.

The only reasin i do NOT own a CZ is because my hands are average and my fingers are slightly shorter than average.

Transitions from da to sa require a slight shift if my grip. This is worse on cz97.

I want to love them, but they don't fit me.

If I were you, i would buy one, see if tge trigger needed smoothing and then never look back.

CZs aren't popular there. Doesn't nean they are not good.

Is it Ford Country? Chevy Country? Dodge? Tundra?

Just wondering... .

My massive bear paw hands prefer CZ's. There are a lot of great guns out there and I would choose a CZ any day over anything else. Tough as nails, accurate, affordable and comfortable.

If I had to literally choose only one handgun to have the rest of my life. It would hands down be my CZ.

Both Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom have a short trigger reach kit, and short reset kit for the CZ pistols. That would solve your issues. I have large hands with long fingers. Not thick or "beefy" but just large palm and fingers. Of course my 97B fits me great. :)

In my experience a CZ is excellent. If the CZ cost the same as the SIG I would still get the CZ. I have owned both brands.

The Browning Hi-Power is a little smaller as stated by someone else.

Maybe an STI 2011, its a double stack 1911 type firearm.

My father has the Beretta M9 and it is a fine firearm, but I prefer the safety location on the CZ above the M9.

In my very jaded and personal opinion, shops that steer buyers to brands that have a larger profit margin over other brands is only servicing themselves.

If you are choosing between a Sig P226, a CZ 75, and a Beretta 92SF, you are looking at 3 different pistols, all of which are of equal comparable quality, with different features. CZ's offer a steel frame and a frame safety; Berettas and Sigs have aluminum frames only, Berettas have the safety on the slide, and Sigs only have decockers. Depending on your preferences, that could elevate one gun above the others... or it may not.

Anyone, particularly a guy trying to sell you something and who should be knowledgeable about the weapons, who tells you otherwise, is lying or ignorant, and should not be trusted.

I fully expect you could post this question on both Sig and Beretta forums, and they'd tell you the same thing. They might tell you why they prefer a particular design over the others, but I don't think anyone would objectively say that CZ's aren't good guns.

More evidence of dishonesty by the guy at the shop:

you said you originally wanted a Glock, but was turned off by the grip.
If there's one thing that CZ is almost universally praised for, it's the grip ergonomics. Even shooters who prefer other makes comment on how comfortable that grip is.

If you get that CZ, and the grip is anything other than rubber (NOT Hogue), I recommend that you order a set of CZ factory rubber grips. It makes an already comfortable grip just sublime.

Yes, the CZ rubber grip panels are nice. Yesterday, I got to the range with my 75B which has the rubber grip panels, and my Pre-B 75 which has the original CZ plastic grips which are similar to the ones they have today. Just plain checkered grip panels with the old CZ logo. The 75B felt a little more comfortable to shoot due to the rubber panels, although I like the standard plastic ones also.

I own many 9MM pistols, including a Beretta 92-FS/SS, Sig P226 and a CZ-75B. All three of these pistols are great handguns. The Beretta cycles like it is on hot butter, the Sig has the best fit/finish & the CZ feels best in my hands and is the one that I shoot the best(all three are very close). If I could only have one :( I would select the CZ. Best of luck on your purchase.

I asked about other models to consider and mentioned CZ, but then he kinda implied that they are not great guns, and were not very popular in their store.

Anybody that says they are not great guns either does not know what he is talking about or has another agenda. They may not be popular in his store but that probably is due to the fact that CZ doesn't spend millions on marketing which keeps the price down. CZ makes fine guns.

There is a member here who will continuously tell you that the CZ brand is terrible due to his personal poor experience. I have personally had nothing but excellent experience with the brand and the company that stands behind it. I go out in the world today with a CZ P-09 on my belt, and my wife with her CZ 2075 RAMI on hers. ;)

I have large hands also and use the P0-1 for three gun competitions - smooth shooting, dead on accurate and reliable.
Also, you might check out the FNH FNX-9 with it's large frame, high capacity and MSRP of under $700.
Good luck!

Some may shoot me for saying this, but a 1911 in 9mm is one sweet shooting outfit IMO. Check them out as you are looking.

can't go wrong with a cz (except the p-07). can't go wrong with a p22x sig. the walther ppq is also a very nice option. i have owned multiples of all of these. the cz 75b is still my favorite to shoot.
