Best 9mm For Concealed Carry?

In your personal experience, what is the best 9mm for concealed carry? Considerations are...weight, size (concealability), number of rounds and ease of operation.

None, or all. Take your pick. It's up to you and what you like and are comfortable with. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but no one but you can decide. Some people can conceal a large service type pistol and don't mind the weight; while others seem to have problems with a 25ACP.
If you have a duty weapon as part of your job I would sugest using it as your CCW. It may not be the easist to conceal, but the training and familiarity will be more than worth the extra trouble.
Try as many different guns out at the range that you can and see what works for you.
In the end it is your decision. What works for me (or anyone else on this board) is only best for me and recomending that to you is a real disservice. The best advise I can give is get the best carry rig than you can afford because it will make more difference than the pistol itself.
Stay safe.

Hey, what about the sexy Glock 26, 27, & 33. Small enought to carry any way you could want, also simple to operate, accurate & reliable to boot!

The Kahr is often too heavy for folks but there is a light one now. They are quite accurate too.

The Glocks are accurate, reliable, but a little thick.

The Keltec is a lot flatter and lighter but far less accurate.

I agree that if you can carry concealed the same thing that you carry on duty, you are more likely to practice more and to be more likely to use the gun better under the duress of deadly consequences.

It's hard to beat the Glock 19 as a carry gun in 9mm. Light weight, high capacity, full grip for controlability, boringly reliable, and tough as nails.

Having both the Glock 19 and a few Browning P-35 Hi-Power's, I'd suggest a dehorned P-35...

Even if you wear beach shorts...a good nylon belt and holster with the loaded pistol, under a pair of stretch shorts and a loose outer shirt...

Or sweats...

It works...going on 10 years of carry this way...no problems yet.

The Kahr is often too heavy

I hear people say that a lot...but I think the weight of the Kahrs is overstated.

here's how the Kahrs stack up against a Glock 26 (the baby 9mm)
Glock G26 -- 9mm, 10+1 capacity
Weight (empty*) - 19.75 oz.
Length - 6.29 in.
Height - 4.17 in.
Width - 1.18in

Kahr MK9 -- 9mm, 6+1 capacity (7+1 with extended magazine)
Weight (empty*) - 22.1 oz.
Length - 5.3 in.
Height - 4 in.
Width - .9 in.

Kahr P9 Covert -- 9mm, 6+1 capacity (7+1 with extended magazine)
Weight (empty) - 15 oz. (!)
Length - 6.0 in
Height 4.0 on.
Width .90 in.
Weight Pistol 15 ounces

*the G26 holds 10+1 and the MK9 hold 6+1 so the weight difference will be eaten up by the extra weight of those 4 bullets...nowever you have the advantage of 4 extra bullets in the Glock so I'd say it's a wash.

Zundfolge,

Excellent point. I hear that a lot too. Everyone likes to compare it to the GLOCK and say that it's too heavy, but rarely do they look at the actual weights of the two side by side.

Even if you take the standard K9 and weigh it against the GLOCK 26 (both loaded to capacity) there is really very little difference.

The real issue is the number of rounds. I really think the Kahrs are easier to pack because of their shape. The trade-off in capacity doesn't bother me at all.

Browning Hi Power

Its skinny for a hi-cap, all steel for durability, has a simple operating systen (same as 1911), low barrel axis, can be had in stainless too.

13 shots standard, feeds every type of ammo I've ever tried in it.

Only drawback is, its a little heavy, but with a good belt thats no big deal.

Glock has a great reputation too, but i'd get the NY trigger job if i had a glock. I like the model 17 the best, its a bit big for ccw, but its a well made pistol.

Springfield and colt both made really nice commander sized 9mm pistols.

.40...

Love ya man, and nice pic too...

But, there is no way in hell I'm ever gonna believe that you're gonna get the same accuracy outta that mini-Glock that I do from one of my P-35's...

This coming from a guy that carried a Glock 19 for nearly 10 years...

Easier to carry, sure...but reliability is followed only by accuracy, everything else is just "icing"... ;)

WOW! This is just the question I've been trying to decide. The Glock 26...lots of extras you can get. The Kahr....sweet trigger if you get the "elite", but I heard they were coming out with a MP9 the poly version of small MK9. Then I throw my other out there....the Taurus pt-111...smaller than the glock..10+1 rounds beats the Kahr, and can get it for $300....But then there's the matter of the trigger...long pull...and gritty till you get about 500 rounds through it.......decisions decisions
