Bear break in

Just for fun. . . You have a grizzly bear breaking into your house. You have the following fairly common firearms in your room at your disposal. Which do you choose to bravely confront the 4 legged fuzzy intruder.

-Semiauto .45 with jhp's
-.357 with Buffalo bore hc's
-AR-15 in .223 with fmjs
-Scoped Bolt action 30-06 with sp's

Let the debate begin! :)

The bear has broke in in such a way that he's between you and both exits. You are in your bedroom. All the guns are in your closet and you have ammo for them all. The bear is showing signs of aggression and is at your bedroom door. Not saying you have to shoot him. Maybe you can just scare him away. But most likely this aggressive bear won't back down and you'll have to try and put him down before he gets to you and your family. What gun do you choose and what's your strategy?

I don't know about grizzlies but for a black bear call Bob Vila - because you WILL need a new kitchen !!

I would probably try to pummel the bear in the face with my superior ninja skills. Jokes aside, I'd deal with the darn bolt and 30.06 'em!

Let's see... which one has maximum knockdown power? ;)

Gotta love these endless bear vs gun threads, they're a constant source of amusement.

30-06 of course

Lessee, 160# between 2x4’s on 16” centers against sheetrock, insulation, thermoply, and brick held up by straps because it would fall over if the framing wasn’t holding it?

I needed a new bedroom door to the outside anyway.

Okay, 30-06.

Unless I had a Glock because Glock fans say a Glock will stop a charging bull elephant.

Bear Claw (Will Geer - "Jerimiah Johnson") used his .50 cal Hawkin Rifle when the bear chased him into his cabin. I think the .30-06 would sufice. I think that may be an expensive way to get a bear claw necklace, though!

I know everyone chooses the 30-06 but think about this. It's scoped and it's very dark in the middle of the night and the bear is 10 feet away. How are you going to aim? Side sighting? Besides with the bolt action at that close range you're probably going to get just one shot so you better make sure it's accurate as opposed to the other choices which are all semi auto. Your AR and .45 are lasered too btw so you know those choices will land the shot exactly where you want it in the low light

10' is not very far. How many shots are you planning on getting off with any gun? How much aiming are you going to do? Just wondering?

Yikes!

I gotta go for the .45, quicker trigger pull with the semi-auto than the bolt and at 10 feet you don't have to worry much about aiming. Just slam the slugs home and let the jhp's do their job!

Go into the other room until the bear is done, looking, eating, crapping, fill in the blank, and then call your insurance man......which your wife will likely do once the authorities remove what's left of you with the other options.

Oh by the way, keep the door closed. What, these bears can pick a lock now?
