Both, actually.

quote:
In a jailhouse interview Monday, Stewart acknowledged that he pleaded guilty to possessing a machine gun in 1993, and that he kept machine guns and other firearms at his home.
Now, I ask you, was it REALLY a felony to possess a machine gun in 1993? If so, by what action did that possession infringe upon another's rights?

It's my understanding "Felony" used to really mean something. By definition in the dictionary that I have it says:

quote:
Felony: 1. Any of various offenses, as murder, burglary, etc., of graver character than those called misdemeanors, esp. those commonly punished in the U.S. by imprisonment for more than a year. 2. Early Eng. Law. Any crime punishable by loss of life or member and forfeiture of goods and chattels.
How grave of a crime is possession?

Today, however, it is so loosely defined that it could mean anything. And under that definition we could all be charged with some sort of "felony" and be stripped of many of our rights under the color of law.

If you felt as he did, and practiced civil disobedience by ignoring unconstitutional law, and were willing to stand up to those in authority who support/enforce uncontitutional law, would you not, when asked in court, say, "But of course, your honor. In excercising my 2nd Amendment rights I possessed an unregistered, untaxed machine gun."

OH MY! A plea of "guilty"!

Now, in what way was he guilty?

I hope that clarifies what I'm trying to say.
