Barbecue Guns...

I've never been to nor heard of an event yet where one could wear a BBQ gun. And if I did, I guess I'd be a bit at a loss. All my pieces are pretty utilitarian. Though, I guess I could get some nice leather for either the Colt 1911 CC or the Dan Wesson .357. Nothing as nice and fancy as what you guys have shown. They are all nice in my book!

You folks who have never heard of a barbecue guns don't be feeling all stupid or anything. The demise of open carry (whether it be from advice or by law) and the stigmas associated with OC has pretty much negated the need for pretty guns. Why the heck do ya think Glocks are so popular. If ya gotta keep your gun shoved in your pants who the heck cares what it looks like. Let's face it, what percentage of guns sold today can really be called nice looking? A few SA's, DA's and 1911's? Me? I've got one ugly gun, a couple above average guns (heck, by todays standards of gun manufacture they are works of art) and one gun that while not engraved I consider fittin the term "barbecue gun".

Now with the advent of new gun laws for the better in many jurisdictions there is really no reason not to have a barbecue gun and carry it proudly. But sadly, with PC being the order of the day and a misguided fear that you'll be shot dead for carrying open most of us won't open carry a gun to a special occasion anyway. The point is mute and long live the ugly gun. Barf..........

Still, if I'm carrying open or concealed and someone ask me what I've got I'd hate to pull out a hunk of plastic to show em. I'd blush.

Standing Wolf, I love it!! I absolutely love it! Will you include me in your will when it comes to that revolver?

Thank you for your kind words, 40s-and-wfan, but I'm taking my Pythons and High Standards to heaven with me—assuming, of course, the road to heaven actually is paved with good intentions. That's the way I remember it from Sunday school during my semi-misspent youth.

This is mine, though it has been so cold here, . . . BBQing is kind of at a stand still.

I was in a leather store some time back, . . . saw the buckle, . . . found the accoutrements, . . . started cutting and sewing, . . . this is the one I ended up with.

May God bless,
Dwight

Rep1954 that SAA is beautiful. The scroll work appears very clean.

The P09 Luger is interesting too. I've never seen one like it. Did you just take the finish off it and polish it?

Now that there's a really purty gun 38 Super Fan!! You could almost shave in the reflection on that thing. If you ever get sick of shooting it let me know, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands!!

Thanks 40sandwfan. It's pretty tricky to take a good photo of the bright stainless finish, and I'm a pretty bad photograher to begin with. I don't think I'll be letting this one go any time soon. :)

Here's my ultra-bright Colt with pearl grips - not the best picture, though. Anyone else have problems taking pictures of shiny guns?

They're nice Distortion, but I wonder if some of them might be a little overboard on the whole engraving part. I don't know if I could handle that much engraving on my handguns.

This thread gave me a great idea.............

I'm looking for a nice coach gun SxS now and when I find one, I'm going to fabricate a holster and wear it to my next Bar B Que.

That should raise the excitement level a notch or two..............
