My Neighbor did those for me. He does excellent work, and Cowboy Shooters keep him busy bringing guns for him to Engrave. He don't advertise. They see them at the Cowboy Competitions, and they do his advertising.
 
As I have stated in other threads that is the nicest Vaquero I have ever seen. Perhaps on day I will get mine engraved too. I think I still have your guy's contact information saved somewhere but I'm in no hurry at the moment.

Also, I hate to be a buzzkill BUT just because a gun is the one you slap-on your hip when you fire-up the Webber in the backyard, it does NOT make it a BBQ gun. Sorry.

Since you are the self proclaimed expert with the final word. Maybe you could post a link to Edinc's minimum requirements for a BBQ gun.
 
Where did the term BBQ gun originate anyway? An engraved gun is an engraved gun, not a BBQ gun. To me anyway, the term seems strange.

That's actually what came to mind when I first saw this thread. :o Never heard the term before.
 
It originated in,,,

Who knows exactly when or where it originated,,,

What it refers to is the fancy gun you wear to a big barbecue party,,,
Rather than the old worn utilitarian gun you wear everyday.

It refers to your formal dress revolver,,,
Rather than your duty revolver.

But if you don't have a barbecue gun,,,
Then you at least strap on the barbecue leather.

I always heard them called "Go a Courtin" guns, when you're trying to impress your beau's dad that you have taste (and more importantly $$$$$$).

I don't have any Purty guns, all mine are working utilitarian ones, and look like it...

Gee, just like me :D.
 
Such a creature is very rare in Ohio. I have heard some old timers refer to their "Sunday-go-to-meeting" gun.

All this seems to be more common in the West and the South. I can think of scant few BBQ parties that have been held in my neck of the woods and of those the guns on display were all of the "new-black" style.
 
All Barbecue Guns need appropriate names also. I forgot to tell the names of mine. The P90 is the "Fat Lady" and the Vaquero is "Hog Leg". :)

As others have already responded, before I had a chance, a BBQ is fancy looking pistol worn to social occassions. A run of the mill EDC gun is not a BBQ. I didn't coin the term. I just know the definition.:rolleyes:


To the owner of the revolver thT made the cover of GUNS magazine, are you the original owner or did you buy it from an auction site?
 
"BBQ Gun" is sort of like "Sunday, Go to Meetin' Clothes"; even if you don't go to meetings on Sunday, you know it's fancy duds?
