Ballistol ?

Here is a question. On my 1861 Navy, if you let it sit for awhile and cock it, sometimes the cylinder will rotate a little too far right from the firing position. I noticed that if you cock the hammer with a thumb pressure to the left it won't do it. I figured the hammer was wearing thin And after reasembling it quit. But now it's back doing it again. I'm wondering if it is the lube or other springs softening. I like that gun. And after cocking it a few times it usually quits. If you have finger pressure on the trigger it will but it will sometimes do it anyway w/ no finger on the trigger.

It is the hammer hand assembly. {I think} For the last 3 months I've f%$&*d w these dam luvable percussion revolvers and I deserve at least a D-
in Colt 101. Fingers said we get advanced more quickly than the gunsmiths of the day. OK---Either give me a D- and move me up to Colt 201 or give me an F and I'll start over:}

I found out that the hammer hand assemblies that Dixie sells only fits the 44's. At the price under $10.00 I got some parts in and the pin is too large on the hand to fit in the hammer of a 1861 36 ubertie navy.And the hand is way too wide and large to be filed. The hammer hands are not universal in all percussion revolvers. The sear in a pietta 44 is also longer than an 1851 navy(36). I think for the 36 calibers you have to order colt parts either from Dixie or others but they are more pricy!:} ???

SG - Pietta parts will only fit in Piettas - Uberti parts are needed for Ubertis. Pietta hands will fit - with minor fitting - in 36 and 44 Piettas. Uberti hands will fit - with minor fitting - in .36 and .44 Ubertis and 2nd Gen Colts.

Well Smokin I'm glad you like um. My daughter is a shutter bug and can take good pics. what do want to give me for it?
I'll trade you my Name Billy or my account here if you like for that revolver...

Footnote... you need to get some Remington 1858 .44cal Revolvers to sell. Steel ones ... get used ones on gunbroker they seem to last longer than Colt if shot alot they hold up better...

PM me if ya want more info on anything I've said...

Laters All!
