Bad dealing with bushnell

Any chance you took any photos of the scope before you shipped it off? I do this anytime I return a item for warranty or replacement. I was burned one time by the manufacturer saying the item was damaged and not covered. A few photos of the scope along side a straight edge well offer you some proof of condition prior to shipment. Good luck.

no picture taken. I guess i never thought it would be nessisary. I thought this was a routine warantee thing. I bought it from cabelas when they were closing them out. After buying it i wanted to kick myself in the but for not buying a couple of them but am sure glad now i didnt.

Terrible customer service from Bushnell in not backing their warranty. Thankfully Ive never had issues with any of my scopes in over 30 years of hunting - I mainly have Leupolds. A few years ago a mate purchased a Tasco World Class scope(which I was never that impressed with). He was out chasing pigs on his property riding a dirt bike & came off, landing on his rifle. He landed with such force that he actually knocked the scope off the rifle & smashed the scope. He took the scope back to the Tasco distributor in person & and explained what happened. To his amazement ,they replaced it on the spot. This is how a lifetime "bullet proof" warranty should work.

Well I have never had to seek service on my Bushnell's because I haven't had any problems with them.

I also have a Nikon Monarch which has been trouble free.

Now after reading a lot of comments and researching, my last scope was a Pentax. It is a 3-9 x 40 and only ran about $100 from Cameraland.

When I got it mounted, I took the three scopes outside @ dusk. To my pleasant surprise, the Pentax was the brightest and clearest of the 3. It reminded me a lot of the Leupold VX3 which was on the rifle I used in Africa last August. My research indicates the Pentax are assembled for them by Burris in Colorado and looking at the product, I can definitely believe it because aside from the name, it looks like one of the higher line Burris scopes.

I haven't used one but the people I know who have Vortex swear by them.

Other than what others have suggested, I can't think of any other ideas to get Bushnell to honor their warranty.

I bought a used Leupold Vari-X III,

a few years ago, which had a misshapen and marred ocular lens housing. The original owner, the seller, said he was carrying the scope, mounted on his rifle, in a hard case across the handlebars of his 4 wheeler, as he hunted, and caused the problem. Because he was offering it at about half the price of a new one, I bought it anyway.

Then, I sent it in to the service dept of Leupold, and asked what they would charge me to replace the ocular lens housing - and also, would they check to be sure the lens edge had not been chipped/cracked, and was the gas seal okay.

About a week after I shipped it, with a letter fully explaining that I bought it used, and full admission that it had been subjected to rough treatment, I was overwhelmed to receive a phone call offering me a deal I still can't believe.

The Leupold service rep told me the scope had internal damage that was too extensive to be repaired. BUT, they would send me a NEW scope, FREE OF CHARGE!!!!

Since the Vari - X series had been superceded by the new (in 2009) VX-3 series, They gave me a choice of anything up to a 4-14 X, AO (MSRP about $650, IIRC). Since I was putting it on a 7 X 57 Mauser rifle, I opted for the 2.5 - 8 X model (MSRP $430). FREE - for nothing!

In exchange for a beat up old scope!

A second hand scope!

An obsolete model scope!

Free - except I paid to ship it to them.:D;):p:)

I've got a buddy that has a ton of guns and has a ton of Tasco World Class scopes. People can say all they want about them on here, but he loves them. He says though that they used to have a great warranty and would warranty them no matter what happened to them, but since Bushnell took over, their warranty went to crap. I'm not sure if he likes the new Tasco World Class scopes or not, but I know he doesn't like the warranty on them now that Bushnell owns them. I'm not sure if that's what he still uses or not, but he was telling me the other day he used to think they were one of the best scopes out there for just a plain reasonable priced hunting scope.

some guys are getting me wrong here. i never bashed bushnells quality. the fact that this scoped failed isnt a consern to me. Anything mechanical can fail and ive had scopes by about every manufacture fail at one time or the other. I liked this scope and sure wish they would have fixed it. Its there customer service that sucks not there elite scopes.
