Bad dealing with bushnell

Quote" -did you buy your Bushnell new?_

Yes, all of them minus one ScopeChief 3-9x40 BDC it came with a .303 jungle carabine that I purchased last year, broken reticle. This is the last one I send back, I have one other identical scope that also turn bad about 15 yrs a go, at the time it was replaced no question ask... not this time.... after many talk the best offer was: replacement with 3200Elite 3-9x40 and $140 return, I tooke it.

Sorry Roberto, I meant that to the OP, If you only had it 4 months I can't understand why they wouldn't warranty it since its a 1 year warranty. There is always two sides of the story as well (not calling you a liar). Seems weird they would go through all the trouble over just a $200 scope. I wish you better luck with your Nikon, and their lifetime warranty.;)

Failing to hold zero is the classic symptom of a scope which was incorrectly mounted, ie: rings out of alignment. Bending the tubes even a small amount raises holy hell with the scope's erector system. This especially true once you start getting into lower price point scopes and the 1st thing I'd suspect when dealing with a brand's higher end models. I found this out thru personal experience, an oops on my part. Additionally, we see dozens of scopes every year with this malady at my gun club's annual sight in clinic. Whether the failed scopes mentioned above suffer from this problem is unknown but ring alignment would be the first thing I would double check before mounting another higher dollar scope in the existing mounting systems.

bruce i have a scope ring reamer and ream and lap all my rings. This sure wasnt the problem on this scope. I wonder how many others have had to eat a poorly built scope because bushnell claimed they mounted them wrong. Pretty easy way for them to get out of taking care of there customers. Like I said i ream and lap all my rings but have owned probably 50 bolt guns in my life and out of all of them have found maybe one or two that were off far enough to actually cause any damage and even then it would be questionable.

I do hope bushnell reads these forums. I can say I am in the market for 2 new scopes. With the trouble I had with them last year, and what I am reading here, I can say with confidence the 2 or 3 (with backup) scopes I will be buying will not be bushnell. I own 4 of them and may have to have me a yard sale.

I have had, or do have, numerous Bushnell Elite scopes. I have only ever had one problem with Bushnell and they corrected the problem immediately with no follow-up on my part. Is sounds like there are other factors involved here.

This is not the first thread I have read about the poor quality and CS of Bushnell. I will definitely be steering clear of them. I have always had good luck with Leupold, Mueller, and Zeiss and will be sticking with them.

Dont know what those factors are but anyone here that knows me will testify that im about as honest of a man as there is.

No one's questioning your honesty. Bushnell's version hasn't been presented here. I know a lot of people who have had excellent customer service from Bushnell. You still need to speak to someone at Bushnell about your scope being shipped undamaged and arriving damaged. What have they said about that?

I haven't had my 4200 long but so far its been a great scope. Time will tell though. I've already sworn off Nikon because of quality issues, hopefully Bushnell isn't going to get the same treatment.

Could be lapping gone wrong. Not trying to put down our work, but sometimes when lapping scope rings you can take a little too much off or what have you. I have seen numerous rings ruined by people trying to do home lapping jobs, I have also seen some others that were great.

You never answered if you purchased the scope new or used, 4 months its under warranty, used they wouldn't honor it most likely.

How did you pay for the scope?
I have learne dto always pay with AMEX. If they don't want to budge, You tell them no problem I will be doing a Chargeback then. Most the time just mentioning that will get them to be nice....Because then they will have the money debited from their merchant account and pay a $35 chargeback fee. If they don't budge then go ahead and do the chargeback, AMEX is really strict about merchants only selling products they stand behind in quality and most the time the consumer will win.

Lastly, its a little known fact but AMEX will DOUBLE any manufacturer warranty and also stand behind the product if the manufacturer wont. Yes you heard correct, after 1.5 years you could have called amex and they would have either repaired or more likely refund you the money you spent on the scope.

The Bushnell Elite series scopes don't have a 1 year warranty, they have a lifetime warranty and a 1 year money back guarantee. Their warranty claims it's for any owner of the scope, so even if he bought it used they should be fixing it. I've got a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 that I'm really liking the more I use it and had a Elite 3200 10x40 tactical I sold a while back that was decent, but every other Bushnell product I've ever owned or used has been a total POS. That combined with all of the reports of bad customer service from them and I'm hesitant to ever want to buy from them. I've never had any Bushnell products actually break on me, they just have usually had pretty crappy glass, none of them have tracked anywhere close to being accurate except the 10x40 Elite 3200 Tactical, and I've just never seen anything great about them. Even the 3200 5-15x40 I'm liking doesn't seem to track perfect, but once zeroed it stays zeroed and that's all I need for the gun it's on. That being said I do have a $30 Tasco from Walmart that's been one hell of a scope. Has great glass for $30 and tracks darn near perfectly, and it's my understanding that Bushnell owns Tasco, but I may have gotten one of the few good scopes who knows.

Well darn...I was just about to order a Bushnell scope. I need something in the 4X16 or 5X15 or 4.5X14 range, and I didn't want to pay Leupold prices this time, and I had that problem with the Nikon Monarch. I guess I'll look into Mueller, though I don't know a thing about them right now. And some of ya'll speak highly of Vortex. And maybe Burris (Fullfield II)

bought a nikon team primos from natchez to replace it.

Sorry Bushnell wasn't helpful.

As far as that Nikon, if you aren't aware, the Team Primos is a re-branded Nikon Monarch scope. Nikon isn't making 3x9s any more and they are selling those Primos scopes for a song.

I have two of them and they are awesome scopes. You bought a hell of a scope for under $200. Congrats.

And some of ya'll speak highly of Vortex.

I am a very very happy customer of Vortex. I have 2 of their scopes and they are Excellent! They also come backed with a warranty the same as Leupold's. Lifetime fully transferrable warranty...

I've had several bushnells... one was a very cheap model (can't remember, was 7 or 8 years ago) that performed well for several years. Given the money I put in it, I think it served me well before it went out. The rest have been elites, and I've had no issues for MANY rounds and MUCH use. I don't think the optical quality is on par with some others, though I do feel that the value (lower price) plus the repeatability and reliability places it in competition with Leupold and others.

I've never dealt with Bushnell CS. I would appreciate a follow-up with this thread by the OP to see if things have been resolved. I may no longer be a customer of Bushnell outside of what I already have.

bushnell

I have a vintage Bushnell Banner that has been on a similar heirloom Win 88. My Dad bought scope and had it mounted as a Christmas gift about 1973.
Its been back to Bushnell when a cross hair separated while it was mounted on another rifle. (mini 30, and shot a lot) Since then its been back on the M88 ( and won't go elsewhere) with no probs.

But.........I've had a number of other Bushnells go bad, and got tired of paying the $10.00 repair fee, and as my money circumstances have improved over the years, I've been a Leupold and Burris guy.

All that said, I'm considering the 10x/40mm 3200 as a scope for on a .22 trainer. Now I'm beginning to ponder my decision.

scope was bought new. Bushnell claims it was damaged when it arrived and there one year replacement warantee is supposidly if your not happy with there scope and return an undamaged scope they will give you your money back. It is not a warantee on scope failure.

by the way i welcome bushnell to respond here. Ive sent them the link to this post and maybe id get a better answer then i gotten so far.
