anyway i am done with this thread. you guys can bring in all of the other groups you want but remember, you brought them up, not me.

Gun Bans

Banter all you want, I don't care who my ally is in the fight to preserve our right to keep and bear arms is. I've lived in southern California for the past 33 years and have seen it go from a progressive rights protecting state to a liberal, socialistic minded welfare state. I blame not only the printed and visual media but the liberal and communistic (Angela Davis, Tom Hayden, Jane Fonda) minded educators and celebrities. It seems the "I hate everything American" American crowd is drawn to this state. The media stirs it up because it sells news, not because they believe in it. Our political candidates are presented by the biased media and those they don't approve of or have a different outlook than theirs is villified and only shown in negative ways. I have been here when Prop 15 was passed by an overwhelmingly 2 1/2 to 1 vote to stop control. The politicians ignored it and for it they got re-elected by the mindless gullible voters. I was here when the riots broke out in Los Angeles. People were packing that lived on the fringe. That it didn't spread further was in thanks to the people who were packing. The county sheriff's deputies knew who was and who wasn't carrying and ignored the alleged violation. It helped contain the violence. This ordinance in San Francisco, if it passes, will be overturned in the courts just like all the other ones passed before. If it fails the election process it will be because of the alliance and unification of all 2nd Ammendment believers joining efforts. Besides this isn't a forum for bashing lifestyles but for the preservation of our gun rights.

"Does the question have any bearing on the argument? Do I have to be a redneck to disapprove of the way people in my neck of the woods portray folks in Mississippi and Missouri?"

Absolutely...It's the equivalent of you calling someone else a toothless redneck.

"Seems to me that the "defense" of why folks didn't like gays boiled down to ignorance, just like the San Francisco/Mississippi comparison does."

If there is even a shred of proof in their argument then how can they be ignorant in their defense. Some folks don't need ALL the statistics to draw a conclusion...If pedophilia happened once or a thousand times with a gay person...it still happened. And in this case it's happened several hundred times maybe even several thousand times.

"However, for you to assert that the same sex couples that I know are damaging the children that they are raising irritates me."

"These folks are in stable relationships, have adopted unwanted children and are struggling to give those kids a normal and happy life. Who else is going to take in a crack addicted baby? You, rangefodder? How about you, troop? Would you prefer that these kids go into the foster care system?"

First off, a lot of those that are gay feel that they are being black balled to begin with. A lot feel jaded from the recent overturning of gay marriages, they tend to HATE the way they feel when stared at, or ridiculed in public and on television. These are the things that will influence their raising of a child.

Now imagine the innevitable ridicule the kids will feel in a public school system, imagine how embarrased the majority of them will be when they figure out what it means to be gay. Imagine when they find out on Animal Kingdom that humans are the only species that take part in this perverse behavior. Imagine what it will feel like when they realize most all the other kids have a mommy and a daddy.

And if the kids are placed in a private school or home schooled (the GAY parents first act of protection). They will grow up sheltered and cutoff from normal interaction with others.

You call this normal and happy?

The list goes on and on Berger.

As for adoption, I've raised my kids, and my tax dollars go to the very funding that keeps welfare around and to allow Gays to have their parades.

But by no means do I support gays having the right to marriage or adoption.

Who said my wife is a woman?

Maybe he just hates bigotry in all forms...

Hey but lets try this one: substitue words! For gay try jew, black, mixed race couple.....

WildbigotryisbigotryAlaska

Wild,

Let's not substitute words... There's a big difference in disliking someone for the color of their skin or religion. These people are born in to those conditions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall any scientific information stating a gay was ever born into being gay. (you know 2 fathers / 2 mothers) I'm guessing it's impossible

I dislike drug addicts, I dislike bank robbers, I dislike car thieves... Does that make me a biggot also. No, it means I dislike the persons DECISION to do those things, just like I dislike a gay's DECISION to be gay.

SF Gun Ban

Actually there have been studies that prove the brains of Gays are wired differently which predisposes them to want their own gender over the other. Also it is not unique to the human race for liking the same gender. It happens all over nature.
I do NOT support gay adoption of children but at the same time the most heinous of crimes against children are perpetrated by allegedly hetero people. Who's to say who is right? Has there been an increase in the gay population from among these adopted children?

Lobo is correct. Homosexuality is biology...not choice. Plenty of human- and animal studies back it up.

So...either they're products of evolution, they're created that way, or they're intelligent-designed that way. You choose. Doesn't matter at all.

rangefodder,
I guess you've never seen a blue eyed kid with brown eyed parents?
But here is a little research for ya, both sides so you don't think I'm biased:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/assault/genetics/
And mixed race couple is a choice, too. Is it OK to hate them?

Hey, troop? Who said I'm a male? :D

Funny, I know a lot of families that "home school" their kids. Either they are far left "Save my kids from the evil Corporate school system and teach them love and peace" or they are evangelical. I haven't seen that with the gay couples that I know. But then again, these are pretty tough folks, they've stood up to a lot of ridicule and hatred because of what they are. That takes a bit of courage. They'll probably be able to pass that down to their kids.

Just for fun, rangefodder, if I was gay - would that make my argument stronger or weaker? Is there more gravitas to my position if I'm straight? How does sexual orientation influence the conversation?

If there is even a shred of proof in their argument then how can they be ignorant in their defense. Some folks don't need ALL the statistics to draw a conclusion...If pedophilia happened once or a thousand times with a gay person...it still happened. And in this case it's happened several hundred times maybe even several thousand times.
How many men have committed murder? Rape? in this case it's happened several hundred times maybe even several thousand times Does that mean all men are murderers and rapists? Logical fallacy and specious argument.

I think that my point though all of this - which I tried to illustrate with Troop's old post - is that we hang together or hang seperately. Lakewood is right in saying that he doesn't care who his ally is in RKBA. We living in and around San Francisco need your help and not your disdain. We KNOW that the politics is wacky here. We need your HELP to change it.

Get over the gay thing. It has nothing to do with RKBA in the Bay Area. Gun enthusiasts are gun enthusiasts....period.

Nice try Berger...

To all of us who use a little sense, we are aware that these are all decisions made by the man/woman... right wrong or indifferent, it is still a decision.

Just as it is a decision for people to CHOOSE to be gay....
Just as it is a decision for people to dislike all gays because THEY associate gays with pedophilia.
And it is OK to dislike all men for committing rape and murder.

My point is, that it is THEIR reason, and their decision which is backed up by some truth...

So why do you bash what they feel?

And to all of you who say it is genetically inherent, please feel free to back it up.
