Are Handgun Weapon Lights Being maligned?

I don't use weapon mounted lights either.

It makes the most sense in a home defense scenario; if you are probing around with a flashlight, i really don't care if I point my gun at an intruder or not. My trigger finger is on the frame to prevent any accidents. I live alone so there's no off-chance of pointing at a family member.

As for using one in the field, that'd be a hard sell for me

I personally like the old FBI method, light out and up diagonally from the body with the opposite hand.

I think there's a little confusion here on the mounted lights actual usage. If a rail mounted light is out, it is because there is a reasonably imminent need for use of a weapon (ie clearing a building vs simply navigating a darkened one). Rail mounted weapons are not flashlights for general use; if you using as your sole source of illumination, you are at LEAST 1 light source short of what you should have.

I did not think to clarify about this, but you are correct. I have a streamlight LED DS for normally use and of course a good ole maglight as a backup. Plus my WML for instances when my sidearm is deployed.

I have a WML on my duty weapon. It is activated by my GRIP not trigger finger. It is a great tool, I am able to iluminate my target with both hands on pistol which is ideal

Someone mentioned that Pistol mounted flash lights are good in the hands of a properly trained person. Who does this training?... and where does the training material come from?

The manufactures?

I got mine from a Police Academy and various pistol schools/low light schools... Not literature from a manufacturer.
