Are guns like potato chips?

How many guns do you own

Minimally:
* Carry/HD pistol
* Identical copy of carry/HD pistol
* HD 12-gauge
* Bird 12-gauge
* .22 rifle

If I had to own just one gun, I would own these 5 :D

Instead, I think my wife and I own a combined 17 guns, 7 of which are heirlooms that we are "stuck with," 2 of which are my wife's favorites, and 8 of which are actually "mine."

So, if it were just the guns I purposely acquired and consider "mine," I have 8, and I'll be whittling that number down to 7 within the next few weeks, and then 6 within the next year or so. Beyond my "minimal" arsenal, I really prefer not to accumulate guns.

guns are tools, and you need the right tool for the job. you wouldn't use a 9/16ths socket on a 1/2" head bolt. which is why you need every possible combination of caliber and barrel length ever made. best tool for the job and all.

After literaly curating a collection over the years, I am now getting it down to a few...just what I need...not about what looks good when my friends come over....

Having too many guns to run out the door with, and then considering I could arm my unappreciative and untrained neighbors, had me selling off the collection...

These days only the best will do, and when you realize what that is...there is only so much 'best' stuff out there...

I used to adhere to the idea that one needed a shotgun, hangun, carry handgun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, then ofcourse all the goodies that went along with it...

Maybe I just don't feel the need to defend against zombies and aliens at this point...if a nice .45 and a shotgun won't get the job done, then they certainly will get me closer to the tools that will...

In my case, if the firearm just sits around and doesn't "do anything" for me anymore, it gets sold to fund something else that does.

For example I just wasn't feeling my SP101 and used the sale toward my Kahr, which I really enjoy.

Chris, that's just w-a-a-ay too rational! :p

Unfortunately, I'm one of those buy often, sell never guys. But for that tragic boating mishap, my son would have inherited a bunch.

"Fancy a crisp?" [/gecko]

Yeah, but I... used to like to think that it had a purpose; which was buying on the cheap and seing how long they'd last and how accurate they could be.
Now I just do it because I find them fun.

Yes firearms are very addicting. I'm at a point now where I'm trying to slow down my purchasing of them so I can actually enjoy what I have before I move on to the next one.

My latest potato chip,,,

I just won the auction on this puppy,,,
It's a Colt Trooper Mk III in .22 LR chambering.

This handgun fills out the .22 LR pairings,,,
With my main centerfire revolvers,,,
I have this gun in .357 Magnum

I haven't even heard from the seller yet,,,
I'm already scanning the gunbroker pages for my next purchase.

I only have 8 guns in my collection at the present time. After I pay for my wedding in September, the arms shortage in my home will be over.

Yeah, good luck with that!:rolleyes:
When I was single, I had a nice collection started, adding about a gun a year... then I got married.:) She likes to shoot too, and it isn't a matter of "not being allowed", it's just that there are so many other priorities and expenses that preclude some of those 'gotta have it' urges.

Over the past 10 years of "wedded bliss", I've sold one, traded one, and bought two. I've amassed more children than armament over the years.:cool:
It's all good though, I wouldn't trade it all for a safe full of steel & lead.;)

I voted "12 or more", because it it true, but I am in the selling mode right now. If I don't carry it or shoot it regularly, it is going bye-bye. I have sold two in two weeks, and have at least five to go.
