AR build

To the best of my knowledge, everything that Surplus Ammo and Arms sells under their brand is made by Aero Precision. They also sell the Aero Precision under that name and I have been told by others on this and other forums that
Aero Precision also makes Spikes Tactical receivers as well as many other brands. The retailers try to keep this somewhat of a secret but there are just not that many companies out there making these parts,

it doesnt really matter what lower you use some buy one based on the brand or rollmarking they want on it.

So let's see here. List of things I need for a complete build
Stripped lower
LPk-does this already come with a trigger?
buttstock(does this come with buffer spring, castle nut?)
Grip
(Is this everything I need for the lower?)

Upper(bcm)
Bcg
Charging handle
Rear sight.

Is this everything for the rifle?

Lower parts assembly is comprised of

1. Stripped lower receiver
2. Lower parts kits (i.e. stock milspec trigger, various pins, detents) some times milspec grip
3. Stock and buffer tube assembly
4. Grip

Don't fret over the milspec trigger, its really terrible and if you ever compared any aftermarket trigger to it, you would agree its the first item to be upgraded

palmettostatearmory.com

has some interesting lower kits combinations so you can avoid duplicating/collecting various unwanted gear like milspec triggers, milspec grips, milspec buttstocks if you choose to make some upgrades

I think a Mil-spec trigger is appropriate for a carbine or mid length that is purpose built for training and self defense that type of ordeal. There is a video of travis haley talking about triggers and he states that he instructs people to just use mil-spec triggers, he sees the high speed match and so on break all the time. I know people have different opinions on travis but he does have some degree of combat experience and expertise. That being said Geissele's are supposed to be extremely durable, apparently the "best" when it comes to a reliable combat two trigger for accurate shooting. IIRC the Geissele's are being used in some precision ARs for the military. Can't remember.

Other than certain materials for the most part as far as an AR15 is concerned, a lower is a lower is a lower. So if you don't car about logo/rollmark find a cheap one and go at it.

Ok here's what I have down on paper

Lower-
stripped lower
Lpk- from palmetto, they have a kit for 100 that has stock, buffer tube trigger. I think that's all I need for the lower

Upper-
Bcm mid length upper
Bcg (w/ gas key) what is the gas key? Im assuming I need it?
Handguard
Rear sight.
charging handle

Ok. Is this a complete rifle? Or an I missing something? All of this, with out the rear sight is apx 800 dollars

I don't really know why, but I have a feeling that after I got all of this assembled, it wouldn't be accurate. I just feel like a complete rifle would be more reliable or better. But I've never done this before so im not too sure...

you using good quality parts so I doubt you have any problems and assembling a lower isnt really going to affect accuracy however buying a complete rifle is always an option.

If I may suggest to you consider buying a upper already built for your first AR the lower is pretty easy there are really only two pins you have to drive with roll pin punches the one for the bolt catch and the one for the trigger guard there are two pins for the trigger group and they can almost be pushed in by hand. That way you can learn all the parts and get to know the AR weapon system, beleve me this won't be your first AR.

You won't have any problems. Down load a copy of the ARMY TM 9-1005-319-23&P, it well walk you through the entire process.

As I told Leafy, I was learning from all of his questions. His were based around mostly the Lower, I think I have all I need for a Lower but now, Lets talk Uppers. My Lower consists of:

S&W Stripped Lower - $130
Mako Group Grip - $27
Mako Group GLR16 Stock - $118
PSA Gen 2 MOE LPK - $60
Totals - $335 (give or take a few bucks most of these had free shipping)

So that leaves me with roughly $400 for the upper. The reason my range is roughly $750 is because I can get a S&W M&P 15 sport for less than that, and I hear "Well, you can build one twice as good for that price" so lets see if I can. Back to the topic of Upper. Budget is roughly $400 for a complete all parts nothing else needed Upper. What does everyone think?

I read about all kinds of brands from White Oak to BCM and everything in between. So for that price and 100% complete upper, what should I get?

Accuracy is big for me. What have you guys gotten with your bcm uppers? They sell a stainless upper with a 1-8 twist
What are suggestions? Like I said earlier? Tight groupings are paramount. And o look online, and there really are not many reviews on it...

This is out of my BCM MK12 granted though it's isn't a chrome lined barrel. Chrome lined will affect accuracy a little. I've shot my 14.5 out to 50yds with the aimpoint and it was ok.. i was shooting american tactical 62gr Penetrators though. I want to try some higher quality ammo and i imagine it would be better.
