Anyone use an bare bones stock semi auto AK to hunt with.

There are some bolt actions that can chamber a round almost silently. I would assume if you had such a rifle you could get by like that in some situations.

If I was going to hunt like that I would start with an open bolt.

I have a bulgarian with a Tapco G2 trigger. I also have side mount scope rail and a 10x scope for accuracy work and testing out new loads. Outside of that I usually have a 4x Scope with a MRDS at a 45degree. I reload, so yes I did work up a handload that for my rifle will hit between 1" and 1.5" consistently. Granted this is also from a bench and not offhand. I'm not saying 1MOA in every situation, just that it is possible if you are willing to tinker with the gun. I'm not 100% sure, but I thought I did specify working up a handload to get the AK close to 1MOA.

I also got my Polish AK-74 between 1 and 2MOA through similar methods.

Nah, too much crap can get into the action.

I don't see the big deal, just practice working the bolt a bit, Dry firing from the postition you are most likely to use while hunting.

Come to one of my CMP GSM Clinics, I'll show you how to work the bolt and with a tad bit practice you can be dern near as fast as if you just pushed on the safety, PLus its a heck of a lot safer.

I have owned several Aks over they years and the cheapest junkiest looking one I ever had, an Egyptian Maddi, was the most accurate. Why I don't know but this thing was capable of about 2 to 2.5 MOA on a good day.

Every other one I have owned or shot I could shoot from about 4 to 6 inch groups at 100 yards with Wolf ammo.
