Anyone regularly carry a military surplus gun?

There are some nice, reliable C&R handguns out there, but does anyone carry one or do you think they are for range use only? I imagine holster selection to be the only major issue, but not insurmountable. Some also seem oversized/overweight for the caliber they fire, perhaps as a product of older materials not being as strong as modern ones. The semi-autos also tend to have lower magazine capacity, but if you want a single stack for a thin carry gun, then that's not an issue.

I'm interested to see if anyone carrys one, and if you do what is it and why do you favor your C&R over carrying a modern gun?

i often carry a EG makarov. and sometimes a P64. i never feel under protected with an extra mag. i don't necessarily prefer it over a modern gun, i sometimes carry a PPS. but they're like dogs, they all got to go out for a walk sometimes.

I used to carry my CZ52 in my car before I got my CCW, and now I carry a S&W Airweight.

I feel if I had any road rager's (Not uncommon in Las Vegas, been there done that, had a gun ready to go:D) trying to shoot at my car from there car/suv I might be able to shoot back and penetrate there door hopefully.

Until I got a Kel-tec PF9, I regularly carried an FEG PA-63. It's a fine pocket gun in a usable caliber.

Still haul it our occasionally.

Not MilSurp, but I've got a couple of early 50's vintage Colt Cobras that find their way into a pocket on occasion. These guns were aquired on a C&R as inexpensive (old police guns, pretty beat up) tackle box guns. But they shoot so dang smooth, I wind up carrying them

I use to carry my Walther PPK (circa 1939) but retired it with Walther prices going thru the ceiling and should anything break or get broken on the old girl I wouldn't be able to replace it.
I'm now carrying a .40 S&W Sigma.

I sometimes carry my CZ 82 though it's by no means a relic. Fine little gun with modern features, great accuracy and plenty of capacity.

I switch up depending on my mood and what I'm wearing. I switch between a Star Model 30, CZ52, Colt 1903 and a few others, but these are the ones in which the model was used in someone's military.

Once Wisconsin finally allows CCW, I fully plan on carrying my CZ82. It's not light-weight, but 12 rounds of 9x18 in a gun I can shoot well with my eyes closed is mighty comforting.

Former Mak owner here. It was very comfortable carrying it daily IWB for ~ a year. I carried mine loaded with wolf 100gr FMJ and it was a very reliable accurate combo.

Love milsurp guns, and I carry them often.

Mostly, my EDC is either my Glock 36 or my Ruger LCR. However, there is something to be said about a chunky piece of steel designed to be bumpkin proof. I've carried my CZ-52 numerous times, but I find that 7.62 is more a "blaster" round than a viable SD round. plus, my particular CZ is pretty meh in accuracy.

However, I gladly carry a P-64 from time to time, I really like the Tokarev platform in 9mm and carry a chinese copy often, and I even carry an old Nagant revolver on occasion.

I like the old shooters and the history they bring.

There are a bunch of good ones to carry and someitimes for fun I carry my SW 1917 Brazilian Navy. The one disadvantage to some of the newer offerings is weight. After I carry the 1917 or CZ82, my LCP feels like a feather.

My CZ-52 lives in my peecup, It works on hog's in the swamp and always ready for some social backup in town. Now if I could only find a semi auto carbine, in 7.62 X 25, to hang in the easy rider rifle rack I'd be a happy camper... Paul.

Getting the AK out is really tough, so I don't generally let it be known. However, if there was a criminal incident, I would not hesitate to break out the 7.62x39.

I carry my EG and Bulagarian Makarovs from time to time. I have carried a WWII Mauser made P-08 in the past.
