Any B5 fans out there?

OK go to wallyworld and buy some tapes NOW because this sept. SCIFI will be staring the series on Sept 25 2000, 7pm EDT showing M-F and it will be in WIDE SCREEN as it was shot and shown overseas WOW!!!

oh and I guess I like the show ok ;)

Yah, B% is kewl...got a bunch of soundclips and a desktop for it.

Little dog guy that was from the past and future with Sheridan "I cannot say, saying means that I would know...since I do not know, I cannot say..."

And what's his name...the balg guy with the red eyes and splotches? "I always try to look at things optimistically, expeirence, however, has shown me otherwise."

Farscape is a rockin show...well worth the weekly hour....Has anyone gotten into the show called 'Lexx'? I can't decide if I like it or not. The graphics of the ship aren't bad altho I can do the same stuff on my computer. [[You can see the pixelation in the flybys unlike in B5 or Farscape where they use models.]] The storyline of the series completely baffles me but at least the redhead with the mouth makes up for it. ;)

I just can not get into Lexx. I even tryed to watch the movies last week, could only stay through one. I was sick and did not want to move.

George, the character you mention is G'Kar, one of my favorites as well. Classy character in my opinion. I miss Babylon 5, nothing like it on tv!
I also liked Space:Above & Beyond on Fox. I understand the reason they pulled the plug was that it was too expensive to film. What a shame.

In addition to a good story, acting, effects, etc., the writer obviously had a sense of humor. Once, during the opening intros, just as the security man was saying "Anyone can show up" . . . three Elvis impersonators walked by in the background.

Another time, when Garibaldi was working as a private investigator, he had a client looking for his missing dog and cat, who were going "to take over the universe." Well, this client was actually Scott Adams, the creater of Dilbert. If you follow the strip, you caught the reference to Dogbert and Catbert.

B5 was the best sci-fi show in history. Damn the scum who took it off!

As for best scenes, there are two: Ivanova's "I am the angel of death" speech right before engaging the Shadow Omegas and Delenn's speech when she came to Sheridan's rescue with the Minbari warcruisers. I believe it went like "only one human has ever fought us and survived. He is beyond me. You are in front of me. I suggest for your sakes that you be somewhere else." I still get chills.

Great effects, gorgeous tough women, heavy weapons . . . what more could you want?

B5 was written as only a 5 year series...
I think it got close to 5. May have made it.

One thing that sets them apart - They hired real and very good actors... each one of them has a number of live stage and major picture experience... The talent they had on tap was amazing.

They effort they went to to make up the alien races was unreal - they didnt just make a nose wrinkle or tatoos like Trek does and call that an alien race. They went and created something very cool.

I would LOVE to have that series on tape.

Simply put: "word"

I still wanna freakin' know what Ambassador Kosh looks like outside of an Encounter Suit!!

God, Guns and Guts made this country a great country!

He looks like the lead singer from Korn.

They've just been calling him "Kosh" by accident all this time.

Kamakaze,
The Vorlon were an energy-based life form. They, along with the shadows were the last of the "Old Races" who had left our galaxy eons ago. They remained to "shepherd" the "young races" like the Humans and the Mimbari. The Vorlon influenced each of the races except the Centauri and became part of their religious/spiritual myth structure.

There was an episode where Kosh left his encounter suit to save Sheridan from an assassin. For all the people who witnessed him out of his suit he looked different to each species because of their different societal mythos. To the humans he was an angel; to the Mimbari he was Valin, and for the Narn he was their “God/Messenger” figure.
The only one who saw nothing was Lando because I guess the Centauri had no interaction with the Vorlon during their development so he had no point of reference on which to base what he saw.

There was a great deal of deep thought that went into B5 and even though I know is was only supposed to run 5 yrs I miss it a lot.

I can’t wait until Sept. :D

Zathras was the funniest character! He had how many brothers named Zathras?
Lyta Alexander was a babe. I've got the remake of Night of the Living Dead on tape, the wife thinks I watch it cause you get to shoot the zombies. Patricia Tallman is Barbara.
"Their coming to get you Barbara! They've been dead a long time. They want you Barbara!"

My wife, who's a science fiction and special effects fan, started watching B5 some years ago and became a regular. I resisted watching it because, to me, it didn't make sense. However, I finally figured out that it didn't make sense only because I hadn't been watching it!

Anyway, the more I watched B5, the more sense it made, until I became a regular, too. This was my biggest turnaround in recent memory, apart from my attitude toward Glocks. ;)

So, we watched B5 faithfully and enjoyed it thoroughly until the very end of the series. Following the last episode, we were bummed out for a week, middle-aged non-sentimental types though we are.

As for Crusade, we liked it a lot! We found it thoughtfully-paced and imaginative. We were sorry that it was cancelled. :(

In addition to the episode mentioned in Mordwyns post there was an ep early on in the fourth season where you get to see a Vorlon as they really are and not using their insidious telepathic powers to cloud the minds of the younger races.
"You've never seen a Vorlon enraged before. They are more powerful than you can imagine."

Id bet good money that most of you know about "The Lurkers Guide" here's the link for anyone that doesnt.
http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/lurker.html

there's a wealth of information here about all things B5 related, including an episode guide, run times and recent news. I like that Doyle for Congress link, but to be honest he could be a bit more RKBA friendly. I love it when Garibaldi has a huge plasma cannon on his hip, blasting away as he yells "Take Some!!" hehe

One thing I always liked about B5 (unlike Star Trek Voyager) was that they were quick to defend themselves when threatened.

It seemed that everytime I watched Voyager they were Threatened, Attacked, Chased Down(Attacked Again) and finally when they decide to defend themselves, all main systems and weapons are non-functional.

I miss B5.... "When they get in weapons range, fire everything we got!!" Capt Sheridan

I liked B5 from the start but when DS9 got boring early on it only made B5 better. The clincher was when on Voyager, they ran essentially the same plot (different settings) 3 weeks in a row. Those ST guys have just run out of stories to tell. Same dang thing over and over and over. Just different facial prosthetics. And some of Voyager those characrters, sheesh. (Except, of course, 7. Sure would like to get assimilated by those Borg spheres.)
