Ammo run to Wal Mart

I stop at our local WW and check for .380, 9mm and the .22 bulk packs. Any time they have ammo I pick up a box or two. Summers coming and it will go fast when I head to the range.

The reason I think Wal-Mart is typically short on ammo is because they pay manufacturers less for their products. With demand still high, manufacturers can probably get better wholesale prices anywhere else, IMO.

I've just about given up on Walmart. Their ammo shelves are almost empty just about each time I go in there.

I picked up some 38 spl ammo at Academy Sports today, although their selection was not good either. I bought some Monarch brass WC and it was't cheap either.

They had a good selection of shotgun ammo though, so at least that was pretty much covered.

i was at a walmart on i-35 and 45 in austin tx, almost round rock, and i picked up 6 boxes of 9mm for 9.45 each. they had a lot. they had to put the pmm boxes in other ammo slots. they also had a decent amount of .40

however, they did not have any .45 or .380

If I'm lucky, a Wal-Mart close to me has WWB 9mm in stock. If it's in stock, it's about $20.00 for the loose pack box of 100 rounds. It's worth checking in and buying a few boxes when they have it.

The biggest and most well stocked gun store in the Charleston SC area (ATP) had the same boxes yesterday for $46.00. I'm pretty sure I know where they get them from.

I wouldn't mind paying a $5.00 a box premium there, but that's a bit rich for my blood.

ATP- Home of the $369.99 Kel Tec P32.

You think that's bad? When the "shortage" was at its highest they were wanting $36.99 for a box of .40 S&W 50 FMJs. It was crazy...good thing I have been able to find some here at Wal-Mart. :D

ATP...Home of the $700 Glock 26.

I'm just glad that I'm seeing ammo again and that prices are slowly coming down. Now if I could just get the money to start my reloading kit then I would be one happy camper!

I picked up a box of WWB 100 count 9mm for about 23 today. They had a couple boxes still left, plus WWB 9mm boxes of 50, lots of 40. I have not seen any 45 there lately.

The 9mm 100 rd WWB has gone up from 22 to 24 at my local WM. Federal 9mm still runs at 10 for a 50rd box, so that is what I picked up today.

Local Walmart had some 38 spl +p on the shelf today and I bought a box, even though it was about $19 for box of 50.

It is so hard to find, I decided to get that box to supplement my meager inventory.

for the past month or longer I can go into any of our wally worlds and find 9mm, 44, 357sig, of course 40, along with 223 100&200 pacs. However.com pistol ammo seems to have went up a few bucks.

Even though Walmart here has gone up in price it's still way cheaper than the local gun shops and even big chain stores like Dicks Sporting Goods on most ammo. So it sucks that they have gone up in price but it's still by far the best price. I checked a local gun shop here and Federal PowerShok .243 Soft Points were $28.99 a box. These same shells are $13.97 at Walmart. Walmart sells 30-06(these are $1 more per box), .270, .243, 30-30(these are 2 cheaper per box), and .308. They don't always have these all in stock but when they do it makes more sense to buy these for $14 a box rather than spend $29 at the local gun shop. Other gun shops in the area are still over $20 on them. One had them for approximately $20 or so and some $23 depending on which ones you got.
Handgun ammo is the same way. 9mm at Walmart in the Federal Champion boxes is $9.97. WWB is $20.97 for 100 round boxes. At the local gun shop Blazer Brass is $19.99. There are a few other choices for that same price. That's also double the price.
I'd like to support local gun shops but at these prices I can't afford to.
