Yep. And I'm using Missouri Bullets, too
Bullets worked out to $0.067 each
including shipping.
My primers calculated out to $30.80 per 1000,
including shipping and hazmat (no tax, since I bought them on-line . . . no gas to go pick 'em up either
). So $0.0308 per primer.
Powder's a bit under a penny per load, but I bought my powder in bulk too; 12lb for just a hair under $200 which works out to a bit over $15/lb or $0.0095 per round.
The brass was free, since there's tons of it to pick up at the range.
Grand total per round: $0.1073, or a hair under $0.11 per round. That's
including hazmat and shipping. And I didn't have to fire up the truck to go anywhere but the range, and I was goin' there anyway
So it sounds like 9mm would be significantly cheaper
EDIT: I've reloaded nearly 4K rounds so far, and by my calculations have saved about $650 over the cost of factory ammo. By the time Spring arrives, I will have recouped the cost of my reloading setup (Hornady LnL AP, dies, scale, calipers, manuals, various and sundry doohickeys). And I started reloading
less than 3 months ago, on 12/17/2009. If I was shooting 9mm instead of .40S&W, my break even point would probably get pushed out to somewhere around Easter
