Ammo run to Wal Mart

Well today I needed some exercise, so I went over to Wall Mart to check some prices on ammo and other gun related products (knives, etc.). Everything I asked about was IMHO high. A brick of cheap 22 LR was $18.00. 9mm FMJ Blazer was $15. Cheap 300 WSM was $42, etc. etc. The selection was horrible.

I ended up at my gun store, across the street, and paid $5 less for a brick of 22 Winchester and even bought some Fiocchi .380 95 gr. FMJ for $12 per 50 count. They have a huge selection and there doesn't seem to be a shortage of supply there either.

I picked up 9mm WWB for $22.00/hundred and .45ACP for $35.00/hundred earlier today. Local Wal-Mart. First time I have seen either caliber in months there.

Went to Walmart tonight - shelves are still empty. The had some .44 mag and few boxes of WWB 9mm, neither of which I need at present.

good reason to reload.... I dont run to wallytown.... I just reach from one end of the reloading bench to the other... and wammo... ammo.... seems like my shelves are never empty... and the prices are good

Picked up six 100 round boxes of WWB this morning. My local wally world seems to carry more .40, .25 and .22 cal than anything else, but 9mm and .45 has been showing up more often.

I live in an apartment or I would myself.

Wow...seems salty for Wally World. I can pick up Remington 9mm for $11.50 a box almost any time I want.

keep the brass then.... and sell it

I send it to my Uncle who reloads. The smallest thing he reloads is .451/.452 though, so I'm out of luck for any handgun smaller. I get loads for the cost of materials, so ~$10.00/hundred, bad thing is that they are all SWC and cleaning after shooting is a CHORE.

I have a 5 gallon bucket full of .45ACP that I need to take to him.

I scored pretty good the past 2 days. I stop in every other day and they got a good shipment in Monday. At one WM I grabbed 4 boxes of .45 WWB 100 count, and 2 9mm. I figured the depot must have gotten a good shipment in, so I went ahead and stopped by another 5 miles down the road. Sure 'nuff, they had even more. For the first time in a year I saw a box of the Remington 250 count in 9mm, plus they had lots of the WWB 100 count 9 and 45. I grabbed the 250 count and 5 more WWB in 9. I went back yesterday and all the 9 was gone, but they still had 45. I grabbed 3 more boxes, left 4 for the next guy. Oh, 20 and some odd cents for the 9mm WWB, 51 for the Remington 250 count, and 32 and some odd cents for the 45 100 count. I'd been saving waiting for it, so no credit cards. I was happy. Heading to the range Sat morning with the boy. :D

I guess the thing that ticked me off worse than anything was that there were two clowns behind the counter that kept asking if they could help me find anything. The question wasn't that bad, but it was the way they asked. like they were saying: "buy something or get lost." I guess they didn't like me checking their prices. After the third time they asked, I said, "No, I was just checking your prices before I go over to Cal Ranch!" Dang, I hate China Mart.

If you can buy 9mm for roughly $10 for a 50 rnd. box, (or $.20 a shot) you're doing well. I can barely reload it for that. Midway just now had 9mm 115 gr FMJ's for $10.99 and the HP's for $15.29. When you add primers at over 3 cents a piece and powder at a penny or two; the minimum, (without the case) is 16 to 20 cents a shot. Buy all you can at $10 a box of 50, and save the hassle of trying to find primers in today's Obama world. Rodfac

I don't know what you're using for bullets, but I'm reloading at $0.11 per shot using cast lead from Missouri Bullet Co. That's .40S&W too, which is generally 40-50% more expensive than 9mm for factory loads.

I’ve always wondered why WalMart’s prices are so different state to state, or even town to town can make a big difference. I looked just today at my local WalMart and cheap 22 LR was $14.95 / brick, and 9mm FMJ Blazer (reloadable) is $9.95 / 50. In a town 25 miles straight east of this one, the ammo prices are right around 20% higher. Why I don’t know. It probably comes off the same truck.
