Amazing ad for used pistol

couldnt find ammo? I know 380 has been scarce, so to speak, but its available. Just gotta look... ;) My local gunstore has at least 20 boxes of 380 ammo on the shelf and another 10 boxes of premium SD ammo behind the counter.....

When i bought my LCP 6 months ago (and yes, I've shot it!) i bought 2 boxes of Aguila (sp?) and 2 boxes of Gold Dots with it. Since then i have put another 300+ rounds through it.

All my other carry guns have countless rounds through them. I try to get to the range several times a month....

As a side note... has anyone noticed in the American Rifleman Mag.

in the 'Armed citizen section' that a lot of times the folks who 'use' their gun to ward off the bad guy miss them... often it sounds like the bad guy is with in 10 feet of them inside the house and they miss...

Kind of reminds me of when I was growing up... as a teenager and would let my buddies take a few shots with the 38 smith and wesson I carried (yep, you read that right... the 70's were different)... more often their first shot was close to the target but the second one was way off somewhere.

I can't imagine carrying a gun that I had not proved... unless that was my only choice. I broke my Sig 230 down completely a few weeks back and it took me over 6 hours to get the trigger group back together.... even though the gun seemed to function flawlessly... you better believe I took it to the range and put 2 mags through it before I started carrying it again.

You would also be surprised at how many take their concealed permit class and shoot the 60 rounds or so shot qualifying and then never shoot again until time to requalify 4 years later.

one i seen today

Springfield Armory XD Tactical Model pistol, 5-inch barrel, .45 Cal. Fired 1,292 rounds. 3 extra magazines included. like new

Sounds like that is my brother-in-law. He has owned his 357 magnum for 8 years. Shot one box of 38 special through it in two different outings and that was because I brought the ammo - DUH.

I'm glad they never needed to use it. I'm also glad they sold it, because I don't think they had a clue what they were doing.

My father in law has 3 rifles - none have ever been fired and an old Dan Wesson 357 that also has never been fired! By the way they are all older than me!

Last weekend at the range a guy came out to shoot and had a Glock that had never been fired at all. He actualy had to cut the shrink wrap off of the case. His fther in law had purchased it at a gunshow from what he says about 20 years ago. (with the shrink wrap still on the case it could have been a lead weight in the box and he would never have known). FIL bought it when he though he might get into shooting, but stuck it on the top shelf of the closet and forgot about it. Gave it to the SIL cuz he knew he would shoot it.(Also the FIL states that he shot a .22 when he was younger and had maybe shot onece in the past 40 years since.)

I have a couple of friends that carry guns they never fired. I can't seem to get them to understand the lunacy of it. They seem to think that once the gun is fired, it is no longer as good as it was the day it left the factory. Very flawed reasoning.

And then there was a guy I recently met at a range outing that claimed he was a retired SWAT Sniper from NYC. He had a G17 with him and was lucky to hit the target every 5th round. A tight grouping for him was 36"

These are different times and not for the better.

B-I-L recently informed me that a guy at work has elected to get a concealed carry license. Went out and bought a 2-inch SP-101 in .357 and spent about $30 for a small box of hot carry ammo.

I asked him if they intend to make a range trip together and he said the guy isn't interested in visiting the range. "Told me he's shot a handgun before, 20-some years back, so he knows how to pull the trigger on a revolver"

A snubbie stoked with premium .357 Mag ammo is a handful for any shooter. This fellow is carrying one... pocket carry with no holster of any sort, loaded and ready for action.

It, too, is an unfired and daily carried "defense" handgun.

I've never owned a gun that wasn't fired within a couple days of purchase. I don't understand how someone can trust an untested firearm to defend themselves. It may be a high end custom shop gun but without firing it you never know what will happen.

Hey .45 Gunner

That guy was less than honest. NYPD doesnt have a swat team. They have something called Emergency Service. They sometimes do swat type duty. And by the way... Their service pistol is the Baretta 92F... NYPD does not issue, or authorize Glock 17 pistols. Glock 19 is the authorized service pistol. So... of you ever run into him again....lol

I own a rifle I don't even own ammo for and never have. I have handguns i have only fired 10-15 rounds out of. My Nagant pistol was a good example before I sold it.

I would never carry such weapons. If you have friends who are doing this and you do not rebuke them i think you are doing yourself and the firearms community a great disfavor. As much so as the person who sets up a first time shooter to get scope eye on camera and laughs at it then posts the video on youtube.

I have a .300 WSM that I bought just before Christmas last year that I havent fired one round through yet. It's my third .300 WSM within the past five years. I sold the others; but, I also shot them both. So, I'm not too worried about the recoil or how it shoots. I'll get out and sight it in one of these days.

Not everyone out there is a stark raving mad gun nut that has to shoot thousands of rounds every month! I sure as hell don't need to put 1500 rounds through my 9mm to determine that it's reliable or that I can shoot it. However, I do practice a little with my carry gun just to keep the edge on. But, I don't go overboard because ammo is just too much money.

"...bought a used military rifle from France like that...Only dropped once, right?..." You two need to learn some history. Stupid comments like that are an insult to a whole generation of dead French W.W. I troopies and to French W.W. II troopies and the thousands of French Resistance men and women who were executed for helping American flyers like Chuck Yeager.
"...Never fired once but carried for six months?..." Lots of cops, most actually, never fire their service piece except when they're required to qualify.
"...because ammo is just too much money..." Reload.

Yes, but that means that they have fired their weapons and know they actually work.

"...because ammo is just too much money..." Reload.

Given all the direct and indirect start and production costs, kaboom threads, and squib threads, reloading definitely isn't for everyone and apparently is a poor option for many.

Not far from where I live is a small town with eight LEO's. Several years ago the town bought some new kind of retension holster for the whole department. Six monthe later when it was time for them to qualify at the range it was discovered that six of the eight could not draw their pistols!

Four were eventually pried out but two had to be sent to the holster manufacturer with the pistol still stuck in them!
