Do you consider Homosexual to be a negative connotation? I just used the word in the context that if McCarthy had worked for the State Department he would have been included on the list. Roy Cohn was also a homosexual and McCarthy's right hand man. We know J edgar Hoover was also a homosexual. The two of them also instituted a anti-homosexual campaign because they beleived that homosexuals were in leauge with the communists. Many homosexuals lost thier jobs due to this.

no i dont. but in my experience, its been liberals who are quick to use the term in a derogative sense, revealing them to be the intolerant hypocrites.

As far as your pet theory is concerned, I don't understand why infilltrators and big conspiracies are necessary to explain social trends started by the labor unions in the 1800's and strengthened by the New Deal as JohnBT mentions.

Having the government hold the hand of the weakest members of a society is hardly an idea only 50 years old. Nor is it wholely unattractive. We turn our nose up at it, but Americans are somewhat unusual on the world scene for doing so. One might even say that a rejection of social programs makes us unique.

It's a senseless muddle that fails to show any sort of coherent picture and manages to name every ill in our society as the sole product of foreign influence.

But we are the about oldest country operating under the same governmental system in the world, and that's not about to change. So when you speak of the "patience" of the former Soviets, who opened and closed for business inside the 20th century, I have to assume you haven't thought this through.

There are plenty of obvious reasons for the current state of our country, and our own greed is at the top of the list.
