Am I A Nut?

We're all nuts, even the liberals! What ever you do in the privacy of your home is your business.

Amen! Now isn't this what we're trying to strive for anyway!? Maybe that's another post, but...

I DO WHAT I WANT!

I would caution not to get too familiar with the process, and one day forget that the gun is loaded.
Watching TV takes away from the concentration that I think we need when handling firearms.

Sometimes I will handle my guns while watching the television if I'm home alone but otherwise I will practice dryfiring in my upstairs gun room as I keep my reloading equipment and ammo in the downstairs gun room.

Mr. Blue:

When I shot on several Marine Corps rifle and pistol teams I snapped in on the television screen. I developed my grip, my sight alignment and my trigger control. I waited to release the trigger until the screen had a light area where the sights stood out. These light areas appear and disapear rapidly. Their rapid movement helped me to aquire a fast sight alignment and the ability to release the trigger without sight movement. However, I wouldn't snap in in front of anti gun people. We get enough bad press on the news.

sure. good way to practice trigger control with some snap caps. also, it's just fun lol

now, if you do it while sittin there in your fruit of the looms in front of people, that's a little odd

While I am completely unqualified to render any opinion on your mental state, I can say I only handle my guns at the range and at my bench. Were I to do what you describe, I would likely find my gear piled at the back door with a note from the missus wishing me well wherever I might next land. ;)

I'm a NUT too!

While I dont do it alot or in front of anyone but my wife. I do like to pull out a gun and disassemble/reassmble or practice aiming or drawing. I'm a huge gearhead and I love guns and their build. I especially loved the 1911 I had, a beautifully machined piece.

When I get a new one I am pretty touchy feely with it. But then after the newness is gone I don't sit there playing with it. My main reason is that I know my wife would hate it. She is not against me having them, she is just not as comfortable with it.
Man.. If you were to take the above paragraph out context it would sound very odd. :D

Plus, she would think I was nuts.

Maybe you are too, but then again who is in charge of saying what is normal? I promise you the anti-gunner liberals are not normal. Normal is not running around trying to tell people what they can and cannot have.

I do the same thing with my revolvers, when the better half and I are watching TV. I'll take an unloaded revolver, grip it, and dry-fire while we while away an evening watching Netflix. Being able to pick a small object on the television and use that as point of aim - especially since more often than not it moves around a lot - has helped me immensely at the range.

Also, I enjoy using it to familiarize myself with a new acquisition before I go to my local range. Dry firing is free. Shooting is expensive.

The best part is, my wifey has learned to completely tune out the 'click click click' for hours on end.

My local funstore just took in a Smith .44 mag with a 6.5" barrel and I'm wanting it pretty bad only because its so damn beautiful. I'd play with that for hours! :D

On the one hand, I have spent quite a bit of time "snapping in" on the TV and computer screen ....... done safely, with all live ammo secured.

On the other hand, I know of one local guy that killed his TV deader'n hell with his pistola doing the same ........ obviously not ALL of his ammo was secured.

I usually point them at my pet's.

What happened to Rule 2, "Never allow the muzzle to cover something you don't want a hole in."

I suppose you could hate your dog and still continue to feed it.......
