Airstream trailer guns

How about a takedown rifle? The new Ruger 10/22 td, one of the Savage 24's, AR-7 etc. Easy to store and hide from theft.

True.

One thing I'd add to my prior post: ALL of it, meaning three handguns and two long guns (and their ammo) fits into ONE Underwater Kinetics plastic (waterproof) briefcase. This is just the size of a basic business briefcase... a pretty small package for a complete self defense and utility arms set for two people.

I knew a couple who did just that, only it wasn't an Airstream. It was something else, don't know what. They pulled it with a van that carried their two motorcycles. They had already crossed the country on the motorbikes. They weren't retired (he was actually retired from the Navy) but more like itinerate odd-jobbers. They could and would do most anything but I gather from their postcards that managing a campground was most delightful.

Obviously they didn't sell all their worldly good and even had trouble giving some stuff away. They had trouble when the sale of their house fell through but eventually they got everything worked out and got on the road at last. Mainly their travels were up and down the coast but I think they actually owned a hard stand somewhere in Texas with a shed. I have no idea if they owned guns or not.

The company I was with in the army had an olive drab Airstream! It was pulled with a Chevy Impala, also olive drab.

We should have a contest to see who can fit the best selection of stuff into the smallest space. I think my briefcase would come in pretty high to the top: 3 pistols, a carbine, and a shotgun. There's room for something else, but... I don't need something else.

OK, Maybe a .22 conversion kit for the Beretta for plinking would make it perfect.

Nice idea, here my selection...

shotgun ( either A5 12Mag, or 16ga M37),
three sidearms ( M17, either .357 or BHP & a J-frame)
rifle ( either M70, M88, M100, M1 [ in .308/7.62] or 336/94 & .22 (either 77/22, M39 or a good target m52, Anshultz, or Marlin 2000)

Just a side note-many privately owned commercial campgrounds don't allow firearms on their property. The place we worked in 2010 was no firearms allowed but they paid me to kill gophers with a pellet rifle. While working there, I heard lots of comments from "full timers" about such restrictions all over the country.

I know a couple doing just that. He has a single pistol for SD purposes only. A Ballester Molina .45 stored in a hidey hole in the Airstream.

His idea was to minimize possessions and do with the minimum.

A simple side note to your side note!

Years ago, Wally Byam was my neighbor. I'm sure he'd roll over in his grave if your Airstream gun(s) aren't a bright alloy.

Very true. I lived through the twin horrors of Katrina and Rita. While Katrina un-did New Orleans, Rita was worse for us. While Rita was bearing down on us, we still had the refugees from Katrina to deal with. What a friggin' horror show that was.

Ok my list would include:
Mossberg 935 12ga.
Dan Wesson 44Mag 6".
AR15 in 223 plus 6.8SPC upper.
S&W model 60 HD and CCW.
Ruger 10/22

That's the truth! Do not try to start that on an outdoors/camping/RV forum either.

I don't do shotgun games, but I'd have a 12gauge pump or over/under, 22 rimfire semi-auto rifle, and a 38/357 revolver or two. I still need to figure out the handloading gear and one rifle for target shooting.

I like so many would either have to sell or store several of my revolvers, and I would have to buy some long guns, so here is my list:
1- My M 586 4"
2- My M-60 38 special
3- Ruger Mini 14
4- Ruger 10/22
5- some sort of 12 or 20 bore shotgun, perhaps a double barreled "coach gun."

Hunting and varmint rifle - Henry Octagon Frontier lever gun in .22 Magnum

Home defense - Kel-Tec PMR-30 semi-auto pistol in .22 Magnum

Concealed carry - NAA Black Widow single-action revolver in .22 Magnum

Do the privately owned commercial campground managers insist on searching each trailer entering the campground for weapons? How would they ever know if the weapons were not observed?

In a Katrina situation I would have a NFA registered short barrelled rifle or shotgun that can fit into a backpack folded.

If there is cops, FEMA, etc., what they don't see won't hurt them.

If there is no law and order, I'll be ready.

Right now I have a Krinkov 7.62x39 that fills this role. It can be ready to rock and roll with a 20 round mag in a backpack.

I'll have a Glock 26 in my pocket also.

Around here, the LE community will typically ask, "Do you have any guns, knives, or other weapons that I need to worry about." I figure, there's no need for him/her to worry, so I answer with an honest, "No." If he/she didn't want me to interpreter their worry level, then they should have rephrased the question.

Any 12 gage, a revolver,a .22 of some type, and an auto, your choice.
Stick with the common calibers and you'l ldo well and be OK.

If for SD only, I'd go with:

12ga. pump or double-barrel shotgun (with buck, slug, & birdshot ammo)
Small .357mag revolver (SP-101 or S&W M60 3")

If you plan to plink, add a .22lr rifle or revolver to the mix.

I'd avoid anything semi-auto or high-capacity....just due to certain, non-2A jurisdictions you may travel through.

Also, have a secure place to hide & lock them up.
