Abomination or cool?

I've got a red dot on my S&W617 revolver........of the four handguns I have and at the age of 68, it's the only one that I can really see the sights on!:D

If Lewis and Clark coulda bought goretex before they left town, they woulda.

I like that analogy. It depends on the purpose of owning the gun. If you are wanting the most efficeint tool for a job I have no problem with using modern technology. If you want nostalgia, it is an abonination. If it works for you, it works for me.

Not at all. Of my 6 revolvers, 2 have optics. One is a N frame .44mag with a red dot and one is K frame 617 with a red dot as well. I tried my best to make them match for practicing purposes as my 629 has become a primary close range hunting pistol.

Abomination ? . . . IMO yes it is.

On the other hand, its an abomination that would have come in handy for me personally on several occasions. The eyes aren't what they used to be - especially in low light.

They only had the 15 yard range open today so I couldn't take it out any further, but still I'm thrilled with the results.

The last shot with the bullseye I did after doing 50 push-ups to get my heart rate up.

With iron sights I couldn't do this good.
