A very specific caliber debate: Larger or smaller caliber in same size gun?

If I'm made, its my job, and theres often a very good chance I might get arrested, even though I have a permit.

Why would you be arrested?

At the end of the day you have to dress around your weapon unless it is a Seecamp---Kel Tec or maybe a snubby

Yeah, but those are "old guns." You don't want me to be seen carrying last years gun do you?

Perhaps one of the funniest lines I have read on this forum

Why would you be arrested?
Some places call it trespass, others, a debate on the legality of where I was at the time with a gun. (the police would most likely arrest, the debate would be the courts)

Here in Texas if you have a CHL and are 'made', yes you can be arrested. Besides the law saying it has to be concealed from the 'ordinary observation of a reasonable person', there is such charges as disturbing the peace.

And that's why I don't pack a full sized Glock 17/22/31 but instead rely on my Glock 26 (and to a lesser extent my Glock 27.)

I try to carry the most capable weapon for what attire I can get away with in public. That is, I don't wear a coat in the summer, or one of those photo vest, or anything out of the ordinary.

In the winter though you can carry much larger weapon (or two.)

How much money do you have? You've already purchased a near duplicate gun and then come ask the question afterword. If you're rich just buy every gun.
You should have stuck with the 9mm and loaded it with +p or +p+ hollowpoint rounds. Don't think about a "penetration season", just have a trusty year-round loading. You could then have taken the money a pm40 costs and purchased many boxes of expensive +P HP ammo to practice speed drills with it until you could shoot FAST and on point.
If you were gonna upgrade to a more lethal caliber why not just take a bigger step to .45 anyway.
OR, .40 is a fine caliber and you would have been fine if you had bought a pm40 instead of a 9mm.
It is good to support the gun industry, but maybe give some money to charity instead of getting a different colored rabbit's foot. This is a debate you have before you've purchased your first Kahr, not after you holding 2 of them. Sorry if it all sounds mean.

P.S. Send all those tacky last years guns to me.

I'd keep the 9 unless you needed the money, especially money for a different gun. Nice to have an extra bullet when capacity is moderate. I'd keep it until I found a better replacement for it. An extra is always nice!

Everyone would like for their CCW weapon to be a big hitter, but "concealed carry" means different things to different folks. If in your job, you can wear a loose shirt and call the 45 auto you have on your hip concealed, by all means do so. I would. But if you'd lose your job if someone saw that gun, you'd probably change your definition of "concealed" to mean "will not be seen or even suspected". Practically, that would limit your choices to the tiny "mouse gun" calibers -.22, .25, .32, and .380. (Maybe you could conceal a deringer of larger caliber if you were willing to settle for a two-shot gun.) IMHO, the best truly concealable guns out there today are the .380 Kel Tec P3AT and it's near clone the .380 Ruger. I believe that a gun that used a 9x18 Makarov bullet could be built to that same small size and would be superior to either, but so far no one has manufactured one of that caliber. (But it would probably take the "mouse gun" market if someone did.)

I'm pretty new to this carry thing but I've got to generally agree with AK103K. My G33 is not exactly a small gun. I carry it concealed in EVERY conceivable situation. I've worn it during everything from digging holes for playground installations, rolling around on the floor with my kids and serving communion at church. I wear it with every conceivable style of dress from clothes that fit properly, like tucked in shirt and tie at church, to bulkier, untucked t-shirts appropriate for working outdoors in dynamic situations. NO ONE has ever appeared to notice, given me funny looks, yelled "OH MY GOD A GUN!", or indicated in any way that they knew. That includes in-laws, police officers, folks who give me a hug and many other interactions.

As for the question of selling the gun.... yeah, PBP, if I were in your shoes then I'd sell it. It doesn't do anything for you that 5 or 10 of your other guns won't do. Use the money to buy a new neon sign for your club....
or another gun that you don't need any more than you need that one.;)
