A New .45ACP Revolver

If you are interested in a 45 acp revolver , Taurus "will be" making the Stellar Tracker 445 ---45acp revolver in stainless
with 4 compensating ports on each side of the front sight [8 ports total] to reduce recoil and muzzle flip by 90 %.

Sometime this year, we hope, available barrel lenghts will be 2 in , 4 in and 6 inch.

The Stellar tracker is built on the Taurus heavy
frame and has a 5 shot swing out cylinder and a single & double action with adj W&E white outline rear sights and red ramp front sight and a neopreme grip.

Expect to pay around $430.oo and the revolver just might be availble, if Taurus gets the lead out and starts producing , sometime after aug 2002 or as late as dec 02/jan 03

This out classes the S&W model which is priced at 630.oo
and has " no compensating ports" although the Smith has a 6 shot cylinder.

Smith can provide compensating ports for an additional $200.oo
custom shop fee, pricing a comparable smith at $ 830.oo to the $430.oo Taurus. The longest smith barrell is 5.5 inch, not 6 in.

Me? I eagerly await the first oppritunity to buy my Taurus Stellar Tracker in stainless steel with a 6 inch PORTED BARRELL.

By the way, you guys should be overjoyed that Taurus is making the barrell PORTED . This IS A BIG PLUS FOR YOU.

The Taurus porting is designed so that you CAN SHOOT ALL THE LEAD YOU WANT with out suffering from unnecessary recoil;

I know because I have been shooting hard cast 38 special reloads
from my Taurus model 608 for 3 years now with no port clogging
and awesome 1 inch groups at 25 yards. In fact, if I pay attention,
I can usually make all 8 bullet holes overlap with some bullets going through the previously made holes.

PORTING IS THE WAY TO GO.

Old fashioned, heavy recoil, heavy muzzle flip, non ported barrells are the wave of the past. A wave that has gone past.

Why would anyone in their sane minds want heavy recoil and heavy muzzle flip with its attendant lack of accuracy and longer time between sight allignments when it is all easily eliminated
by non leading ports.

The only reason I could think of for not wanting the porting is if it resulted in a shorter barrell allowing the rev. to carry a bit easier.

As far as target shooting goes with a 6 inch barrell, the ported barrell is the cat's meow .

If the barrell was not ported , I would not buy the gun.

I ONLY WISH TAURUS WOULD MAKE A 8 & 3/8 PORTED BARRELL
FOR THE 45 ACP STELLAR TRACKER MODEL 445.

As a shooter gets 55 yrs old, your eyesight starts to go and you get arthuritis in your shooting hand.

A - 8 & 3/8 inch PORTED --45 acp revolver addresses these problems quite nicely in several ways.

1. The 45 makes big holes that are easier to see.

2. 45 acp bullet heads are less expensive that 44 mag or 44 spl
bullet heads and recoil considerably less .

3. The 45 revolver allows cartridge downloading beyond the point
where a semi auto pistol stops cycling, thus allowing a reduction of recoil and the attendant increase in accuracy due to a lesser disturbance of the sight allignment when the cartridge fires.

4. The 8 and 3/8 inch barell increases accuracy while decreasing
recoil and muzzle blast because in a longer barrell there is less
pressure , therefore less muzzle blast behind the bullet head
because the gases are allowed to expand throughout a longer and greater volume, thereby reducing pressure. The extra wieght of the longer barrell also helps cancel recoil.

5. To all of the above we now add 8 porting holes to vent all
remaining pressure behind the bullet head on a vector enginered
to cancel out muzzle flip and recoil.

FORMULA FOR PERFECTION; or at least,
AS GOOD AS IT WILL EVER GET.
