A New .45ACP Revolver

Hard Ball

Tarus is introducing a new five shot .45ACP revolver which uses a new five shot full moon clip. There is a picture of it on the back cover of the current AMERICAN RIFLEMAN.

Not so fast boyz. Taurus is notoriously slow when it come to bringing product to market. Maybe next year, if you're lucky.

I agree about the ports, but I understand Taurus can provide a revolver without them.

Man, this is what they should have come out with instead of that snubby .45 Colt. I'm glad that Taurus will bring us the acp. Now if we can only get them to do a 9x19 . . . .

I'm on the deal. This'll be the first non-(pre-treason)-S&W revo in my battery in a loooooooooong time. Reckon who's got the clips?

I'd bet Ranch Products up in Ohio would make the clips up, no problem, when the guns get released and there's a demand (and there will be a demand!). They make good stuff.

That is a really long barrel (and a ported one no less) for a 5 shot snubby.. guess they figure when you pull the trigger from retention the extra inch will only set your outer layer of clothes on fire. ;)

Come on, we have modern metallurgy.. the barrel on my New Service Colt is HALF that diameter.

No barrel ports.. make it smaller... and fixed sights, or maybe I'll just go buy a S&W 1917 model and cut it down.

That's the Tracker, with it's underlugged, slabside barrel. Very cool-looking in person; same barrel cross-section as the Raging Bull, just scaled down for the L-size frame. Same gun available in 7-shot .357, 5-shot .41 Magnum, or 9-shot .22. It's the same frame as the two-inch snubbies, just a different tube and sights.

It's not thick at all, Dr. Rob; actually it's rather flat. This is what it would look like w/a 2" barrel and FS:

(Picture is of the .45 Colt variety. They make the snub in all the same calibers as the Tracker, so don't be surprised to see it in .45ACP as well. Also, it'll more than likely be available as the only total-titanium .45ACP wheelgun on the market.)

I guess I'm just old fashioned but I really hate that barrel look. It's a good thing though. I have enough 45acps now. What I really need is a 45acp semi-auto. Does anyone know if anybody makes one of those????? ;)

As Tamara pointed out, the bulk of the Tracker is Titanium, and the .45 ACP version appears to be as well. Which means it will weigh substantially less than the S&W 625s or older 1917 45 ACP revolvers.

As soon as I saw the ad I knew I wanted one, went to the web site - nothng. Just got back from the gunshop, never heard of it.
Guess I'll just have to wait. I've been waiting for Ruger to chamber a GP100 in .45acp but they don't seem interested.
