That's the very definition of anecdotal evidence.

So, a company proves my point that they can take single moms that are uneducated, unemployed, without a roof over her head, and no money to her name become successful, educated, and able to support her children. Cold, hard facts that it can and is being done to help people that want to help themselves... and you call it anectdotal? It's a proven system and I really don't think you can see the forest through the trees...

First hand accounts on an internet forum don't hold much water and one community doing things right does not preclude the possibility of other communities doing things wrong.

Well, I guess one on an internet forum that hasn't produced ONE account to argue against my case doesn't hold ANY water. And, like I said before, is wasn't in one community. It was every place that I've lived. That includes cities in Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Illinois, and now Iowa. Guess that's ONLY 6 states and about 9 cities. Only 44 states and 16,000 cities to go before my "anectodal" internet assertions MAY become a pattern...

Because I'm not arguing the opposing point, just that it's best to get the arguments straight.

The best way to get the arguments straight is to provide your own "anectodal" evidence, now isn't it?

For y'all to keep complaining about single moms and crackwhores leeching from the system makes about as much sense as someone complaining that all the buck toothed rednecks refuse to give up their guns so they can shoot each other for 'possum stew.

If you think that way, I don't think there's much else to say. Your statement is utterly rediculous and the reason why this isn't getting anywhere...

Take it to the next step and realize that many believe the constitution ought to be amended to allow for such programs.

So, it's not OK to have much of a military, but OK to amend the Constitution to provide a fastrack path to Socialism? Ooops, sorry. I mean, income redistribution?

No, it's not. Socialism is not some evil nasty entity.

And yes, I've read that. It's nice but like John Lott's dubious writing it's treated as gospel by the same people that bitch and moan about how higher education is all a bunch of liberal brainwashing and statistics can't be trusted.

I know what you're saying, I'm saying that a good chunk - if not a sizable majority - of the country disagrees with you.

Of course they do. It's because they want HANDOUTS, not earn their own dang money...

Saves money for more free stuff and money for our own leeches. Them entitlements need fundin'. That military is a waste of money better spent getting the freeloaders to subscribe to any way of thinking that justifies their handouts and therefore their support politically. After all, who would even attempt to consider a perspective that affirms their conscience nagging at them when there is an alternative that affirms denying their conscience and even justifies the suckling.

Got to be truly sold out to think free stuff trumps national defense on the national budget priorities. Of course give almost anyone free stuff long enough they will start thinking up any excuse to justify maintaining the flow.

Liberty is to own ones own life. The time that life will last is finite. The efforts made during that life yielding something of value are your own property as some of that finite life you own was spent yielding it. To take it against the will of one individual to give it to another individual is theft whether by an individual or government official. Giving of one individual to another individual by free will is the only means that it can be done virtuously.

Bruxley, I have to request an edit to your statement. "...to justify increasing the flow" would be more like it.

Other than that, I think your statement trumps all other excuses for justifications...
