Nominally, yes, but the groove diameters were .452 to .454.Furthermore, there no Colt 45s until the model 1873 aka model P aka SAA. So for over 30 years, 44 cal or below.

9mm can expand, but 45 won´t never reduce...
AND they do make a .50......just sayin.....

Regardless of the actual results of the test, .45acp is a man-stopper round and 9mm is a mouse-stopper.
(I'm a 9mm guy, so I can say this!!)
You really think so? I don't know man.
No, I was just joking around. I really believe that .45, .40 and 9mm, in modern defensive loads, are all great rounds, capable of stopping an attacker.
I believe so too...it's just in my eyes..
.40 - a pain in the arse to get a good string of bullets down range in defense. Crappy follow-up shots.
9mm - that "what if" this isn't enough bang. I mean I know it is but if I can do better then why not..however..
.45 - capacity. Oh wow this is horrible on capacity. I carry my Glock 21 don't get me wrong but you know how much better a G19 feels to carry.
.-. I'm getting a headache.
