Another vote for "none of the above."
The gun is the least of it, but if I were in the market for a 9mm, it would be the Ruger SR9.
Thin, high capacity, very good trigger especially for a striker type, and it even has a frame mounted safety.
Made in the USA by a manufacturer with a stellar reputation.
Not even expensive.
What's not to like?

Since checking every option on the list didn't seem helpful for the poll, I only selected 1.

Glock 19. You didn't specify HD, CCW, what not so I went with the middle ground on something that I can conceal and can serve perfectly in HD nightstand use.

In fact one is sitting on my night stand right now (Glock 26 is on the hip).

The only one on the list with which I have any experience is the G17.
Myself and my family: Browning Hi-Power.

ANY of the guns listed are just fine. I have several Glocks but mine are all 2nd or 3rd gens, Sigs, Beretta's. I've had at least half of the guns listed in the poll the past. I'd trust any of them. But with my money the Glock does everything I need a gun to do with less fuss and expense.

I am kind of laughing at the fact that I very much like 9mm handguns and I happen to own eighteen of them and not a single one can be found in the poll choices.

Perhaps as entertaining (to me, anyway) is that I'm always looking, like a HAWK, for the next great 9mm pistol to add... and I am a full 100% certain that it will not be one from the list of poll choices.

I can't say that this comes as a surprise and it probably won't open much avenue of discussion, but it seemed relevant to toss it out there.

Discontinued maybe, but an iteration of the fabulous Third Generation S&W line of pistols belongs in any poll listing 9mm handguns for use in self-defense. That said, I voted for the SIG Model 226 as a satisfactory alternative.

All are great choices depending on your preferences. Mine are clear though: the CZ-75B. Feels absolutely wonderful in my hand, great balance, very pointable. And I do CCW mine sometimes.

How on Earth did you manage that :p ? That's like touching off 12 ga bird shot at the broad side of a barn from 5 feet away and not getting a single pellet on it :D !

I just realized there is no S&W 610. Might have picked that over the CZ-75.

I voted for my first center fire pistol I ever purchased, the tried and true Glock 19 followed by the Sig 226 and Beretta 92.

Going from my experience and preferences (most of those I have limited experience with), I voted VP9, CZ75, and Beretta m9. I feel i's be able to handle those three the best when it came down to it.

CZ 75 is my next pistol to buy.

And a PPQ isn't "all that and a bag of chips."

But it is all that. Stop thinking about food and feel the force young one I will agree the OP should have had a other box to check

"Young one???" LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

When I was growing up, your 9mm choices were a Smith Model 39, a Colt Commander, a Browning Hi-Power ($74.50) or a few war surplus items such as an F.B. Radom P.35, Astra 600, Swedish Lahti or, if you were smart enough to get one, a Ye Olde Hunter $39.95 Luger or $34.95 P.38.

The PPQ is just another in a long line of plastic guns that really don't offer anything new. In fact, they look like a Hi-Point.

So much to learn young grasshopper First it is polymer I suppose you call mags clips too  The PPQ arguably has the best trigger right out of the box. Why all the hate on the Turtle and his humor to start with? A true savvy handgun owner can see the merits in all firearms without lashing out ;)

That was my reaction too although my wife does have a P226 and my 8-9mm includes a CZ75 variant (Tac Sport). The only one of the 8 I wouldn't want to rely on would be my 1942 P38.

My choices of the SIG p226 are the X-Series pistols. I've owned three. Sold my X-5 Competition; kept the X-5 L1 and the X-6 L1. Both are great guns for almost any use. An exception might be concealed carry. I can carry in a small dispatch bag/man's purse; but my body is too small to conceal either gun on my person.:)

I just traded a Sig P320C on an S&W Model 66. It was redundant because I've got a P229 with .40 and 9mm tops. I also have a Glock 22 with a Lone Wolf 9mm barrel and it's my best shooting 9, better than my PPSM2 or my XD9 subcompact.
