9MM POLLS

9MM CHOICE IN THE POLLS

The poll should have only two choices:

Walther PPQ.

Curl up into a ball and cry.

Make that THREE choices: NONE of the above.

Seriously, there are far more 9mms than what was listed.

And a PPQ isn't "all that and a bag of chips."

Had to go with the glock 17. The first semi auto handgun I shot was a Gen 3 Glock 22. I've become partial to glocks for that reason. It was definitely hard to choose between the glock and sig 226 though. I love sigs, but the glock 17 beat it out in my opinion. Lighter, and in my case for the magazines I have for both, the glock holds more.

I went with the CZ75. The Beretta would have been my second choice. I'll let the younger people have the newer stuff.

None of the above. I prefer my Gen 2 and Gen 3 Glocks, HK P7, even my Kahrs............

Poll should have a choice for "other, please list" and "none of the above"

None of the above.

Were I to find the need for a 9mm for some serious "social" work, I'd pick first the Browning Hi Power, followed by a HK P7.

my wife and I have a few 9mms. We shoot them all quite well. None are unreliable. We have an XD, a Walther PPX, a CZ-75, and a Ruger.
I believe "Any gun will do if you can do the job with that gun".

But to answer the question as to what I would choose?

My AK-47 or my FAL, ----both loaded with hunting ammo!

If I get to make a choice (which means you KNOW you are going to get in a fight) I would ALWAYS choose a rifle.

Handguns are for fighting when you don't get to choose. They are for the times when you do not know you are going to be attacked or that you need to press an attack yourself.

Great guns on the list, but I don't own any of them.

Next to my bed lives a XDM in 9mm.

Home Defense primary concerns for me would be:
- Reliability
- You are comfortable with the manual of arms
- Ability to put on a light

Wouldn't worry as much about things like weight for HD.

Judging from the size of most of the pistols on your list, you are looking for home defense rather than carry, I presume.

I own a Beretta 92 and PX4. Both excellent, accurate, and reliable.

I own a Glock that isn't on your list, and I have shot the 17 and 19. Excellent, accurate, and reliable. The different sizes fit different hands differently, so handle them at the least, shoot them if you can.

I own a couple of Sigs, but not the ones on the list. Excellent, accurate, reliable.

I have shot a CZ 75B and loved it, but I don't own one. Yet. Sterling reputation for being excellent, accurate, and reliable.

In short, there are lots of good pistols being made these days. You need to consider what you want regarding trigger systems, safeties, size, and fit. There simply is no one "best" pistol that suits everyone's needs. The various options are on the market because at least as many people like them as are needed by the manufacturers to make a profit and keep them on the market.

I know you won't satisfy everyone with poll choices but your poll has Ruger American and Canik but no Browning HP, HK hammer fired pistols, or Walther PPQ??

But it is your poll. :)

I voted P226, P99AS (because there was no PPQ option), VP9 (but prefer P30L/P30SK), and Glock 19 (though I own a Gen2).

I voted Sig 226 .....but why the heck is there no 1911 in the poll....

A full sized, 5", 1911 is my personal favorite in a 9mm...and there are a lot of them out there, although my personal favorite is a Wilson Combat.
-------
I have 4 guns in 9mm ....

Wilson Combat, 5", Protector Model ...( my primary carry gun )
Kimber 4" Tactical Pro II model ( alloy frame )...
Sig 226 ...all stainless
Sig 239 ..

They're all decent guns..

"poll" is a massive fail.......

No FN/Browning Hi Power, Glock gen 3's or Sig 228?

Massive fail not to include the best 9mm handguns ever manufactured.

I have 3 of them, the M9, Sig 226 and M&P. Sig is the top.

On the other hand, any 9mm (or .22, or a bat) is better than nothing for personal defense.

Any one on the list would do. I carry a Ruger SR9c most of the time. It is either on me or on my bedside table. As long as your choice is dependable and you shoot it well I don't think it matters much.

Out of the ones listed, the PX4 Storm, if compact is an option.

But really none of the above. CZ P-07.
