9mm for $300? Input please

You already know what you want; just need the discipline to save up that extra $100-$125 to buy a lnib G19. I never buy new Glocks; most have been lnib, sometimes with extra mags, holsters, for around $400.

Whats the main difference between a P-89 and P-95?
The P89 has an aluminum frame, is larger and heavier.

The P95 has a polymer frame and is a lot less chunky than the P89. I find it to be more shootable and in my opinion it has a better trigger.

My first gun was a P95. The couple times I shot it it worked fine, but it's ugly and tool-like.
I recently bought a PT99 w/ Ciener .22 conversion kit, and it's a great gun to shoot. I never thought much of Taurus, but I love this gun. It's a way better looking, holds 15 rounds, has a better safety, and is a single/double action.
I don't know if you could find a PT92 or 99 for $300, but I'd try.

My dads Ruger P-somethin .40 was POS. But i think it was just a lemon. I have shot a friends P95, did great, and another friends .40 and it was also great. I would look for a used S&W sigma 9mm. Saw one at a gunshop used for 269, and instead a bought a new p22 for 350. I know, I know, but i don't need another 9mm, ammo is getting expensive, and I wanted a .22 pistol

lots of options, especially if you are willing to accept a used gun.

much depends on your intended use and how long you are willing to wait to get what you want, and how much you are willing to look around.

a 9mm is a good choice but i would have to ask you what its main purpose is. is it just to have, plinking, target shooting competition, protection or concealment? all guns have their limitations, full size are great but hard to conceal, smaller guns conceal better but may be harder to shoot accuratly for some people. i have ruger, smith and wesson and taurus 9mm pistols. for something in your price range take a look at the taurus pt111. it is a smaller gun easier to conceal, it works well, accurate and durable. i hve 1 and like it but its your money take a look and make up your own mind.

With today's recent buying frenzy it is going to be a little harder to come by those really great deals - especially at gun shops. You might keep an eye in the classifieds, someone might be short of cash or lost their job etc... Glocks seem to be in demand right now, more than other guns. Maybe because of name recognition and first time buyers needing a "black plastic" high capacity gun.

With that said a used gun can be very good deal if you are on a budget. The Ruger P series, Smith and Wesson 5900 series, CZ-75 (if you can find one in that price range) - I have several CZ's all are excellent. Lesser quality but an EAA Witness, Bersa or FEG Hi-Power copy are all decent guns for the money. If you can save up $400 it will put you into a much easier buying range and give you a lot more choices.

Local shop has new Ruger P95 for $319. So I guess you don't need $400 after all. They also had some Arcus Bulgarian Hi-Power clones for $350 - they are supposed to be reliable, but had a pretty rough finish, nowhere near as nice as the FEG Hi-Power I used to have.
