64 assaults on border patrol in the last three months.

Heard this on local san diego news tonight. 64 assaults, ranging from rocks, knives, handguns, rifles, full autos. To me, this constitutes an act of war. Our law enforcement agents are being fired upon by foreigners, and we all know which country most of them come from, on our soil. Anyone think the government will actually do anything about this? As for me, I'm buying some more ammo tomorrow. I live in San Diego, and I work 1/2 mile from the border.

Someone correct me if im wrong here but the border patrol officers are armed and if deadly force is being used against them they are authorized to use the same force back. So I really dont see the problem. The border patrol gets paid to keep these people out and if that includes the use of force so be it. Like I have said in other posts these people will do whatever it takes to gain access to this country and stay in this country even if it means ingaging in a firefight with our law enforcement officials they dont have a whole lot to lose and lots to gain by being inside the U.S.

I wouldn't expect any action anytime soon. Might interfere with someones' business - and the emerging new Pan American state.

To me, this constitutes an act of war.

Well then, it is probably best that you are not a politician or military leader in a position of power as you don't actually know the difference between the acts of individuals versus those of governments or political groups.

Your description was largely void of any useful information, but I am guessing that the vast majority of those assaults happened in total on the US side of the border. With that said, 64 assaults isn't that many as a basis for identifying these events as war. We get a lot more officer assaults in Dallas each year than that, and these are not part of acts of war.

Simply put, the border patrol activity seeks out illegal border crossers. Illegal border crossers often comprise migrant aliens or smugglers of contraband such as drugs. These people definitely do not want to be caught and they often attempt to fight their way out of getting caught.

Just because the folks come from other countries does not make their acts any type of war. That the Border Patrol deals primarily with foreigners is no surprise. That is their area of specialty. In Dallas, we get vice cops being assaulted by prostitutes and pimps during some attempted arrests. We get drug cops being assaulted by drug dealers and users. We get SWAT officers assaulted by all manner of people who are in the buildings being raided by SWAT. In other words, when you specialize, you get specialized problems.

While it may not be an "act of war" when an illegal alien, acting without the concert of his government, assaults a US LEO, it certainly should provoke a lethal response in many instances. And getting back to the "war" part, many Mexican politicians will say privately, some even publicly, that the illegals pouring into this country is an effort to take back what we took from them in 1847 at the conclusion of the Mexican War. So maybe it is an invasion afterall....

Wingman-
I read the link....a bit on the biased side, I think. They claim that a university is promoting a PanAmerican state, simply because an analysis of the issues is provided in an Elective Course?

As proof of the nefarious mind-control that's going on, they actually quote one of the course descriptions:
The movements studied include a mix of left and right leaning movements as well as a balance between groups supporting and opposing regional integration.

Perhaps the course and the Prof are pushing an agenda.....but I hardly think a responsible news organization would conclude that from the description.....or, are our BVD's wadded simply because the subject is being discussed in a University? If so, perhaps we'd all be best to close this thread also. God forbid people should be asked to THINK.

Can I see some sources for these comments? Private or public?

ebd10:

Two problems: One, aztlan is an American terrorist organization. Those are chicanos, not mexicans, and that website is so full of lies I can't honestly believe that anyone would even grudgingly consider a word on the page. Look at the main page to see what they say about Iraq and the Jews.

Two:
There's not a single quote from a Mexican legislator claiming that immigrants are an invasion force. In fact, the only person who does say there should be a different country as quoted on those sites is a University of New Mexico professor. Do radical professors in the US speak for the Mexican government???

Examples of aztlan "reporting":
Tony Villar was a lackey of the westside L.A. Jewish community who failed to convinced many in the Mexican-American community that he was the right man for the job. The small Afro-American community overwhelmingly rejected Villar but he managed to receive over 80% of the gay and lesbian vote of the West Hollywood community.
I swear, some people will quote speeches from Pyongyang or Mao as evidence of the US Shadow Policy.

In some counties in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California, property owners have been assaulted or killed.

Their property rights have been completely ignored as 'huge numbers' literally destroy the property of others as they 'sneak' into our country. Property owners rights have been completely IGNORED as their property, livestock and crops have been run off or trampled over. Water holes have been ruined by human presence, etc. It's hard for your livestock to get water when fifteen or twenty illegals are resting near or bathing in THE ONLY SOURCE of water for their livestock, wouldn't you say?

SO there are a lot more problems involved with the 'sneaking across' our borders than 64 GOVERNMENT AGENTS being shot at or hit. LOTS MORE.

I have one friend down in Texas who was 'invited' to property for a 'help me stop illegals ruining my ranch' request. He was told to bring his firearms and LOTS of ammo.

That should speak volumes.

Plus for those who DON'T KNOW about this. Vincente Fox, EL PRESIDENTE of Mexico has a policy of supporting illegals STREAMING INTO OUR COUNTRY. SO much for no foreign involvment.

Perhaps Rich, but the idea is out there, in my 60+ years I have seen ideas
thrown out that I thought would never in my life time come to pass however
many have.

I've seen the illegal immigration problem up close for 30 years the cost to
"all" Americans is high and rising, only the the rich on both sides of the border gain. Like it or not illegal immigration is a burden and will become
a very big political issue in coming years.

Uh....does anyone with a room temperature IQ really believe any of this (a separate Hispanic nation in the Southwest or Mexico taking over/back some of the Southwest United States) is going to happen?

Does anyone with a room temperature IQ really believe there are organized, non lunatic fringe efforts to have these things happen?

Does anyone with a room temperature IQ believe ANY organization, lunatic fringe or not, has any chance of making these things happen?

The answers to all three questions has got to be "no".

Someone needs to get back on his medication(s) here, and fast. And most especially not have access to any firearms. Or, at the very least, get a life.

Maybe this thread needs to end. How about it, moderators?

Oh, my.....my face is heating up from all those flames coming through my 'puter screen.....

Perhaps Rich, but the idea is out there...
Wingman-
Agreed. But, if you want to convince people of that, why use a source as crusty as michnews.com when it clearly misrepresents the very information it quotes!? (PS: They do it because THEY CAN! They know most people just want to drive by the site for a daily dose of "See, I must be right. Just ask Nancy Levant". No one reads the story critically....it's too much work, I guess.)

I'm beginning to be far less worried about the Dumbing Down of America by the gubbmint than I am by our dumbing down by the Internet. We reach out on a Google Search for evidence to support whatever position we have and drag home whatever we find; like a dog with a 6 week dead rabbit in its mouth. Then we offer it up as though it's fresh cut Prime Rib.

This is not TalkRadio, WM. It's TFL. You're expected to do a bit more critical thinking and external research before you make these kinds of blanket statements.
Rich

I too checked out michnews.com and must say after reading it I wasnt sure how to reply. But I think Rich and several of the others who are more eloquent with words summized my thoughts. Believe a 1/4 of what you hear and only 1/2 of what you see. While it did make for an entertaining read  , much of it is speculative extremist at best. People need to funnel less time into this stuff and focus on the more important matters at hand. And I think most all of the TFL community would agree that if everyone spent as much energy on trying to retain are rights as they do on their doomsday research this country would be a better place for all of us.

What can we agree on?
Can we agree that there is a difference between legal and illegal immigation?
Can we agree that thousands of illegals cross into our nation on a daily basis through the southern border? (Sources of this info include CNN, Fox networks, and other MSM. Not merely "fringe" bloggers. Time magazine reported in its September, 2004 issue that 4000 illegals enter Arizona alone on a daily basis.) Maybe you think this is an acceptable number, but are we at least agreeing that these numbers are correct?
Can we agree that such numbers indicate an "open door policy"? That in fact we have no border control to speak of, when only an estimated 10% of those crossing the border illegally are caught. (I believe this figure is reported by the INS itself. I will have to go back and check. I have read in in numerous places. In any case, I haven't heard the opposition to increased border control dispute these numbers.) Maybe you think an "open door policy" is perfectly alright, even somehow necessary...but can we at least agree that that is what it is? Maybe not on paper, but in reality?
Can we agree that believing that someone who holds the postion that such an "open door policy" should be changed, that the border should be made more secure...is not necessarily anti-hispanic in nature? That it is possible for someone to consider the present lack of security to be a major threat to the economy and stability of the US, as well as an open invitation to terrrorists?
I don't usually fill my posts with a list of questions. I do try to include "critical thinking and external research". But I am genuinely wondering if those of you who seem to be suspicious (at best) or downright hateful (at worst) of groups like the Minute Man Project...at least agree that the above statements are true.

Charley-
I can agree to EVERY ONE of your points.

I take exception to bad research and sloppy reasoning however....for those who believe we have a major immigration problem that needs to be dealt with NOW, I stand with you.

Fot those who cloud the issue with the Greenspan Conspiracy, the Bush Agenda or the Greed of Corporate America, I've no patience. Greenspan didn't argue for ILLEGAL immigration.....he argued for immigration. Exactly what has made this nation great century after century.

How 'bout we agree on this:
- Our Social Security system is an UNINTENDED ripoff in tatters. Think all those Farm Workers and Taco Bell IA's aren't paying into it? Think again. Many (and I mean MANY) work for a minimum wage and actually PAY taxes....the only way you get those Min Wage jobs is thru an SSN....so they provide them. They pay in and they never collect.

- Our nation is lazy. We'd rather collect an unemployment check and complain about how the "Fat Cats" have the cards stacked against us than to acually take that job flipping burgers, while going to school nights to better ourselves. (I am so UnGodly tired of the bleating and whining around here). Get a job; get an education; get a LIFE.....just stop whining!

- Our kids are lazier....and I blame their parents (and the schools).

- Our borders need to be closed....Screw the BS "War on Terror" excuse....the Feebies have more than enough of OUR resources to deal with that. The borders need to be closed because the RULE OF LAW must prevail. You don't start a "new life" by breaking that law.

THAT's what we CAN agree on. Americans need to stop whining and go back to work for "The Man"; Immigrants need to come here LEGALLY.

We DO NOT need to agree on these pseudo-intellectual, semi-retarded rants about the "PanAmerican State"....I don't buy conspiracy BS from my government; I'm not about to buy it from my compatriots.
Rich

Retards? Or more "conspiracy" hangups? It's in the open man. hardly "secret".

"Our common border is no longer a line that divides us, but a region that unites our nations, reflecting our common aspirations, value and culture." - Secretary Colin L. Powell, Washington, DC - January 30, 2001

"We must press on with our agenda for peace and prosperity in every land." - George Bush, to the United Nations General Assembly, November 10, 2001

And what "agenda" is that Comrade Bush? But we don't don't need to ask; his inclusive "our" - the "United Nations" - has their agenda very clearly stated all over their thousands of pages and documents all over their own website.

"Secret"? Ridiculous.

Wingman,

Indeed, we won't see that discussed indepth on the "we-hate-Bush-liberal" Global Plantation News network. Might embarrass their "conservative enemies" ;)
