$6 holsters at Walmart?

Call me crazy, but the words "extremely sturdy" don't seem to go with "nylon" in my mind..... I've seen a few nylon holsters (owned one or two, even) and "floppy" is a more apt term........

There you go again after never seeing it, or trying it out. I never bought mine (For only $6:cool:) to carry outside my house, but, after buying one, I was rather surprised how nice and tight my guns were secured, I even trusted it with a gun that is priced over $1700, and my cheaper $500 nickeled CZ75B and the spare mag fit like a glove in the mag holder:eek::D. And it has a nice felt type liner.

I'm not trying to necessarily defend the holster, I'm just calling you out on a product you know nothing about, but yet you come on the board and trash it. That's so Internet of you!:D

Airsoft holsters from Wally World... Seriously???

If you want to use one for a stroll in the woods or to roll around in the mud, I say GREAT.

Otherwise, if you're serious about daily carry... buy a real holster. Most people that own a gun can afford a decent holster.

I may get flamed for this, but will put out there anyways.

I have looked online at making kydex holsters yourself. Youtube or google it. Not hard to find.

Harbor freight heat gun $8. Some sheets of kydex (pick your color) about $5 and a rivet or two laying around or they are really cheap. For under $20 I have enough kydex to make about 5 holsters. All custom fit and can make iwb, paddle owb, belt loop etc. Pretty easy to do also.

You will screw up the first time,,, and probably to the point where you will throw the first one away. But it is incredibly forgiving. Dont like the cant? Then reheat it. Dont like the fit? Reheat it.

They are really light weight, very secure, custom made, and you dont care about them nearly as much as the one you just spent $75 on.

Give it a shot vs going with the wallyworld one.

I really like that idea, mattlago. Thanks. I didn't know the stuff was available and workable.

The surplus lefty holster I ordered from CDNN should get here in a few days. Might be leather but it's probably nylon. Either way, probably half worn-out already. I can start working on its replacement and maybe learn a new craft.

Kydex is very easy,,, watch the heat and you will see it go from rock hard plastic to like a leathery texture. The second that happens you have probably 30 seconds or so to mold it. I would put gloves on to handle it. I use welding gloves so dont know if anything less works. When your wife isnt around you can use the oven:)

Also, there is a slight sheen to it that you can tell when it is about to change. But its cheap so do a couple of test runs. I did one for my lcr and I was concerned about the temperature of the kydex against the polymer but didnt have any issues (no guarantee from me on your gun).

Honestly was easier than I thought.

The CDNN used holster got here today. It's leather! A little scuffed-up, but looks in good shape. So is the magazine holder that I ordered.

(and the 20-round BHP mags look new; they are packed in cosmoline and have stickers on them marked "TAIWAN".)

OK, I'm wearing the holster now. It's a good one for open carry, but I think it'll be hard to conceal except under a winter coat. May have to do that kydex thing...

I just picked up one of these at Wal Mart yesterday. It was a whopping $6.95. I put it on my belt and tried out several gun/mag combinations in it.

I'm truly impressed. It fit my Glock 22 like a glove, my S&W 4006 quite nicely and my Hi Power & CZ pretty well (they wiggle a little bit, but not too bad at all).

For the money spent, it serves it's purpose pretty well. I'm not sure if I would want to carry this holster into sustained combat missions, but I really don't anticipate that need here in sleepy Wisconsin. Long term durability remains to be seen, but I like it so far.

Considering that Uncle Mike's and several other companies sell ballistic nylon DUTY holsters as entry-level gear (probably aimed more at security guards than LEOs, and the holsters on the airsoft pegboard at Wal-Mart are in every way the equal of the Uncle Mike's ballistic nylon holsters, I wouldn't pooh-pooh them. Is a custom molded leather holster from Horseshoe Leather better? Absolutely. Will the Wal-Mart nylon holster carry your pistol? Absolutely.
