$6 holsters at Walmart?

Try looking around at yard sales or flea markets. Used holsters are usually pretty cheap. You might even look in some of your local gun or pawn shops. Often they have a "$5" bin full of holsters that come in with guns that get traded.

Here is a picture of one of those WalMart holsters with my Beretta 92FS in it and an extra mag. They work great for a walk in the woods with my dog. They are not "flimsy" at all.

Those holsters at Wal-Mart look like the ones I see at gun shows in a "box O holsters" all the time. They sell for between $10 and $20 dollars there. Probably made by the same people. There are a lot of them on E-bay also.

I've owned a couple. They're not bad, but don't hold tight to the belt. They tend to "flop" around, some more, some less. The magazine pouch is on the wrong side for a quick reload, but is better than nothing.

What do you expect for $6.00? Try one. If it doesn't work for you, throw it away.

I sent an email to Crosman to see if the holsters were reversible or otherwise available left-handed. Got a reply back that they are not. :(

So I ordered a used LH holster for a CZ82 from CDNN -- just found those last night. It was about $6. Also got some 20 round mags for my Hi-Power. (they also had 30's and the 30's were cheaper, but I have one already and they stick out too far.)

Is that right, they are flimsy, or did you just assume that? Are you sure about that?
Of course, I haven't seen every cheap holster on the market, but the ones I have seen are easily crushed. So from my experience, cheap holsters are very flimsy compared to a good kydex or leather one. This is especially true with cheap IWB holsters, which are almost invariably crushed by the pressure from the belt when you draw the gun, making one handed re-holstering difficult or impossible to do safely. There may be some acceptable OWB ones out there, but you do get what you pay for.

Well, your wrong, they are very sturdy and ridged.

Next time, just say something like I know nothing about them, but I would guess they "might" be flimsy, but I could be wrong.

In fact, I carried an N-frame 8 shot S&W 5", and a full size CZ75B with no problems.:D

You carry that every day? I doubt that ..... when you get around to carrying every day, and insist on using a $6 "extremely sturdy nylon" hoster, buy two dozen of them, so you can chuck them as they wear out..... 24 should last the life of the gun, provided you ..... you know...... actually shoot the thing.

Daily carry?

I am a big proponent of you get what you pay for. One thing I stress to new CCW folks is to not spend $500.00 + on a gun and expect to carry in a $10.00 holster. I've carried for many years and yes, a good quality holster makes a difference to me. It makes a difference in how the holster rides, holds up, reholstering and generally feels.

That being said, I tried many IWB, SOB and OWB for my G36 and came back to some old piece of nylon called a "bulldog" I think that is perfect. I carry the G36 IWB daily so there is not really an issue with the holster being close to the body. :) This holster probably is a $10.00 holster but I don't even remember paying for it! Now in all honesty, to reholster this is a bit of an issue and impossible one handed. There is some stretching involved.

So, for those of you who purchased the $6.00 WM holster do you use it for daily carry or just range, woods carry? From the picture that was posted it doesn't look like it would conceal well. Just looking for some input.

You carry that every day?

Heck no!

I carry a little S&W Airweight 638 Bodyguard in my cheap $10 stretchy jeans pocket from WM, those other guns are real pig's, but the holster had no problem carrying them, and they actually seem pretty well build esp for the money paid. All I got to say is, those 7 yo children in China make pretty good holster's.

Maybe, you "might" be right, but they do work. I just bought one for the heck of if, after all it was only around $6, I blow $6 on Keno every time I go to the grocery store.

provided you ..... you know...... actually shoot the thing.

:eek:Never shot a holster!

Which one? BTW, I left some out.:D

I've found over the years that the best nylon holsters for the money are made by Ace Case. Still cheap to be sure, but they last a long time. I've never paid more than 10 bucks for one. Great for hiking and woods guns. I still use leather for serious carry.

Cheap holster for a decent gun? Would you park a really nice car in a rickety shack? Never understood why folks will buy a nice handgun but then skimp so much on the holster. Kinda like buying a really nice rifle and putting a cheap Walmart scope on it.

The Crossman holster work well for a rainge holster. They are reversable. I own one. I would not use it for daily carry, or even part tie carry for that matter. Now for use at the range to carry from the loading area to the firing line or for when shooting more than one gun. It beast mexican carrying, or setting a gun down on the ground. Also there is a pouch on it that will hold a spare magazine.

As I said for a range holster it will work, and the price is hard to beat. I bought mine for an airgun, used it for a range holster once when I was in a pinch, and still use it as one now. 3 years of almost every weekind using it, and it has held up so far.

I've got one. I use it for general purpose stuff - essentially a holster to stick something into when I don't have a holster for a specific gun.

For me, it works really well for the price. I've got polymer retention holsters for some guns - heave nice leather holsters for others. The little $6 air-pistol holster holds up just as well, and with the strap adjusted and closed holds the gun inside as secure as you'd want.

I qualified for my CCW with my SIG P6. I've got a nice leather duty holster for that gun, but had trouble locating it when I was packing up for the class. Ended up just grabbing that $6 Wally-world holster since it seems to fit any semi-auto of medium size. It worked just fine.

Then again, my personal opinion is that anyone who sticks to that "You get what you pay for" mantra too closely is probably going through life wasting quite a bit of money. They're basically a marketers dream, where you can always up your profit margins simply by sticking a higher price-tag on your stuff and letting price, rather than performance, imply the quality of the goods.

You get what you pay for. I’ll never understand why people go out and buy a decent (or even expensive) gun and throw the cheapest scope or optic on it that they can find. The same goes for holsters and everything else.

I've got one of the gun show cheapos (bout $10) for my Springfield 1911. It serves its job perfectly--my gun lives in it as it rests on my nightstand. I don't carry the thing, as it flops around like mad. I suppose you could carry it, but there are so many better options out there. BUT for a nightstand holster, it's more than adequate. I suspect the Wally World versions are similar construction, but I haven't seen them.

This is not the case, here:

I bought one of these holsters at wally world. They are Crosman Holsters and they are usually in the air gun section. BUT the people who think they are flimsy because they were made for "TOYS" are dead wrong. I have been using mine for a Taurus Judge for 2 years now. They are constructed of nylon and are extremely sturdy. The belt loop is actually a wide velcro strap that allows a belt to slide through & has another strap that safe guards it from being ripped off of the belt. There is a retention strap that has a buckle that releases easily enough. You can't beat this holster for the money. I'm not sure that I would pay attention to those who are critiquing these holsters without actually having ever used or even seen them.

Call me crazy, but the words "extremely sturdy" don't seem to go with "nylon" in my mind..... I've seen a few nylon holsters (owned one or two, even) and "floppy" is a more apt term........

My wm just started carrying blackhawk! Holsters by the firearms. They're the nylon ones like an uncle mikes but they're $12.95. I couldn't believe it.

A measure of performance.

You get what you pay for.
We often hear about performance but seldom understand what it means. An acceptable definition is:

"To meet or exceed one's expectations"

Now, depending on one's expectations, the Wal-Mart holsters meet expections and for some, even exceed. Now, to others they simply do not and that's fine. It's really a personal choice. .... :)

I never tell a man what to do with his money or his wife. ...... ;)

Be Safe !!!
