$6 holsters at Walmart?

I read something about that last night; don't remember which forum. Local Walmarts stopped selling guns a few years ago but they still have ammo. Would the holsters be near the ammo, or near the Airsoft toys, or what?

Is there *any* chance that holsters that cheap are actually usable? I'm looking for something left-handed that'll fit a CZ-82 (about the size of a Bersa Thunder 380)

I've never seen holsters at Walmart, but I have talked to a few people who used cheap airsoft holsters for light range use.

A cheap uncle mikes universal would probably serve you better

At our Walmart, they are by the airsoft pistols and yes, the price is right. ..:)

They are very serviceable and equal to, if not more so on holsters of this type of material. Can't speak to the left hand or what will fit. Heck, you can buy one, take it home for fit and if it doesn't work out, take it back.

Recently picked up three very nice ones for $3.00 each and the only fault i have with them is that they are sand brown or tan and have "Crossman" embroidered onto them. ......

I'd recommend spending $20 on an Uncle Mike's Kydex holster. They are great for range use and last quite a while.
Cheap nylon holsters will fit different pistols, but tend to be pretty insecure and will be prone to wear out faster than quality rigs.

Uncle Mike's doesn't list a kydex holster that will fit a CZ82/83. They have some nylon holsters that should be close enough, but I'd have to try them and see which fits the best.

I might need to take a trip to Cabela's or the local cop shop.

You typically get what you pay for. Don't expect a $6 holster to serve you very well, for very long. If you want cheap, at least go with an Uncle Mikes. If you want some thing that will last, go with a nice leather from Galco or Bianchi.

If you want a nice leather left handed holster, cheap out Packing Heat. Huge supply of left handed holsters and a quick turn around.

You get what you pay for in holsters .... ( and a toy holster / is a toy holster ) ...

Buy a decent nylon holster / and its at least a decent short term option ....buy a good leather horsehide holster ...and you'll have it forever !

As stated, the Walmart holsters are for air soft and BB guns. Some will work/fit actual powder burning guns and are better than mexican carry. But then again, a holster made out of duct tape and cardboard is better than mexican carry too so that ain't sayin much.

I bought one of these holsters at wally world. They are Crosman Holsters and they are usually in the air gun section. BUT the people who think they are flimsy because they were made for "TOYS" are dead wrong. I have been using mine for a Taurus Judge for 2 years now. They are constructed of nylon and are extremely sturdy. The belt loop is actually a wide velcro strap that allows a belt to slide through & has another strap that safe guards it from being ripped off of the belt. There is a retention strap that has a buckle that releases easily enough. You can't beat this holster for the money. I'm not sure that I would pay attention to those who are critiquing these holsters without actually having ever used or even seen them.

Well said and I personally can vouch for their quality. if I dId not feel as such, I would not have mentioned them to the OP. It is a bit strange to have a name brand gun in a Crosman holster. .....
The only fault that deserves a listing, is that I am frugile. (cheap) ...:)

Well I bought a $9 holster at Walmart the other day that is made by Blackhawk.
It is their nylon pocket holster Size 3 and my Beretta Tomcat fits perfectly the holster stays put when drawing the weapon as well as it makes it look like I have a wallet in my pocket.

I just bought it on a lark because the size looked about right for my Tomcat and the price was dirt cheap and am glad I took the chance.

I don't think they have left handed ones available at WM. I have two, they seem well made and the have a spare mag pouch attached to the front, and they have a snap over strap/clip to hold the gun in. They work.

I have used some cheap airsoft gear. Suffice to say, I am wary of even using some stuff for airsoft!

Take some time to find a holster for your specific firearm. It is well worth the effort.

I bought a few of them. I put in standard length Mosquitoes, Walther P22 and even a CZ compact clone in them for range trips. Since they are soft they seem to protect the main parts of the pistols while they are in the range bag. Seemed like a cheap solution. The double stack 9 mm magazines have a lot of trouble fitting in the little pouch for magazines but they can go in them with some pistols. For .22 magazines there is plenty of room. When I got mine they were under $6 with tax. Now they are over $6 with tax. Still a pretty cheap solution for the range or even walking in the woods. I do prefer a good leather holster for CCW. I figured just trying one for the price made sense to me. I'm glad I did try them.

They also sell them at my WM, and we still can buy rifles from .22 to 7mag and they have a catolog from which to order just about any make or model... I done this to order savage, marlin, or the like.:D

From experience I can tell you this much: Many years back I tried CCW using Uncle Mike's brand nylon holsters. NONE of them lasted more than a year or so. They just did not have what it takes to stand up to everyday carry. I finally got fed up and invested in a quality leather IWB holster. It cost me about what I'd already spent in total on those nylon el cheapo jobs.....and it lasted 12 years. Lesson learned.

Good luck re-holstering your gun with one hand with those flimsy nylon holsters. You need a holster with a stiff mouth so you don't have to pry the holster open with the muzzle of the gun (likely sweeping yourself in the process). Maybe OK for carrying an unloaded range-only gun... but all guns are always loaded right? Shoot a few boxes less ammo per range trip and save up for a good holster, it's worth it.

I was at Wal-mart today and in the same area as the gun cleaning products they had a number of Blackhawk nylon holsters, mostly the hip holsters with thumb break but I think they had some pocket holsters as well.

I didn't pay that much attention to pricing since I was there looking for ammo and cleaning supplies but they had a pretty decent selection.
