5-shot .44Spl in a Ruger GP frame.

heck , i wish that the 41 Mag was more popular, i would rather have 5 shot 41 Mag GP-100 vs a 41 Spl(not a standardize cal anyways) or a 44 Spl(not much difference between 41 cal & a 44 cal, since the 44 is actually a .429-.431 cal, however the 44 can be loaded with heavier bullets), heck a 6 shot 41 mag GP-100 would be ideal.

I figure Ruger would want to do all that in a Redhawk. It has been 11 months, so I expect to be seeing my GP100 in 41 Special soon. I had a 3" 38 Special and sent it to Clements Custom, same cylinder, new barrel, six rounds.

I know nothing about the .41 Magnum, but I will say this: with that design you're back into Magnum territory and one of the nice things about Spl. chamberings is the lack of blast, recoil whilst still having good, real-world performance. .38Spl is still a recognised defensive calibre, .44Spl is on a par with .45ACP, more or less. That is certainly is the appeal for me.

^well James Pond, the magnum cals. can all be downloaded to the Spl, levels if you hand load/"roll your own" ammo, the 41 mag was developed as a sort of "bridging the gap" between the 357 and 44 mags, the 41 mag is much closer to the 44 mag than the 357 in terms of "power", however the 41 mag tends to have recoil that is closer to a heavy 357 loadings.

Very true and a definite plus for the .41, but if your gun is magnum strength, it will also have magnum size.
Now, if the .41 Mag would fit within the physical dimensions of a GP100, then I suppose, why not?

(although for me, the appeal is keeping power at effective levels but bang and bluster to a minimum. If it can do that, then great.)
