When faced with a similar dilemma, I chose a Lipsey's BH .44 Special and it has proven to be a great gun.

Of the two choices, since you asked, I would personally say Vaquero. Woods gun to me=revolver. Particularly single action. That's just my preference, though.
I use a Cimarron Model P 5.5" in this role. 'Course I spend 95% of my time in town and the country I do get to doesn't have bears, so take it for what it's worth.
