44 Magnum and approaching hostile human at 50 yards.

I really have no choice, but to go down with the ship fighting if things go south here.

Would rather die defending here than live some where else as second class citizens.

Thanks for your concern though.

Didnt the man ask about the 44 Mag at 50 yards? Why are we muddying up the topic with everything else. He asked about the 44 and gave reasons why he wanted the info.

Firepower: I have a Model 29 6 inch Smith, I shoot cast 240 SWC pushed by 22 grns. They come out of my gun at 1328 fps. Thats 741 ft lbs at 50 yards, or 619 at 100 yards.

I mention the 100 yards because the state of wyoming requires at least 500 ft lbs of energy at 100 yards for big game hunting.

I figure if the biologist think the 44 is good for elk (which are a bit bigger then bandits) then it should suite your porpose at 50 yards.

I under stand your point, some times its just no practical to drag a rifle around. In you case I think your choice of a 44 mag would be satisfactory.

Well then all all I can say is best of luck, and I mean that. Stay sharp and come out on top...it's just that it can only play out like that so many times. You seem like a good guy with the resources to be able to have grey hair and play with grandchildren, in your shoes that would be my tactics. But that's me. We're all second class citizens here. stay sharp Firepower, kick ass whenever you have to
