.380 alternatives to the LCP

Thanks for the continuing stream of advice folks.

-As for magazine issues, I will not likely be carrying a second mag with this one.

-As for Grip, I haven't fired an LCP yet (but I will) I have a feeling the mag finger extension might be the way to go for me. My fingers aren't too thick, but they are quite long.

BERSA has a 380 that weight 20.6 oz and a double stack mag that holds 15 rounds. Will be out in May I think.

New KelTec Gen 2 don't need Fluff and buff either .
My Gen 2 P3AT was about ten times worse than my Gen 1. And that was pretty bad.
Now when the LCP 1st came out Their was many post about them needing the Fluff and Buff . Ruger copy had all the faults of the 1st gen KelTec .
First LCP I owned, I put 200 rounds of mixed FMJ/JHP through it right off the bat. Worked 100%. It was one of the very early ones and was recalled (unfortunately). While it was gone I bought a 371-series and put 200 rounds through it...no problem.
I wouldn't take a Kel-Tec for free...in fact, of the four I have owned, I have taken big losses (with full disclosure) on three and gave the fourth away...for free. :)

I too am contemplating purchasing a .380 auto pocket pistol. I have narrowed it down to two. Ruger LCP or Diamondback DB380. I want the Ruger but I have read good things about the DB380 and found one for a great price.

Is this something new? I've had a Thunder .380 Plus for a couple years now, like the BT380 except a double-stack.

Nice gun... I like mine a lot, but it's hardly a pocket pistol.

I like the .380 round; don't like the cost. Now have a SIG p232, a Browning BDA and a Beretta 84FS, with a Browning .380 1911 on order. The BDA and the 84FS are easier to shoot; the weight seems to help. Not that the SIG is inaccurate; it just seems to have more recoil.

Myself I don't really care for the LCP. I just couldn't group with it to my liking.
It fired every time!

Maybe you should look at the LCP Custom. A lot nicer trigger, better sights.

Where was I at when you was giving these FREE Kel Tecs away?

I can even IWB it in my underwear, with my Remora holster, when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

Really? Wow, must be single then, eh?
If you need to carry a gun to go to the john in the middle of the night, there is something seriously wrong with that scenario..................

I always carry my gun at home, not because of real danger, but because I like to be prepared for that type of danger regardless of how likely it is.

The point is that, with a gun as small and light as the LCP, there's almost no time or place where it's inconvenient to carry a gun. That's what my example was meant to illustrate. And I was making that point because I hope OP will consider whether he wants a truly tiny gun, like P3AT style pistols, that is easy to carry everywhere.

My example also illustrates the advantages of a pistol that weighs less than 10 ounces. The LC9, which is only 7 ounces heavier than the LCP, is nonetheless too heavy to be IWB'd in underwear. There are really not many guns that are light enough carry this way. You couldn't do it with a Mustang-style pistol like the 238 or a PPK-style pistol like the Bersa 380.

Is there any way you can try before you buy?
I have Bersa 83a and it is not what I'd call a pocket gun, now you can have a 9x19 the same size. The 380 acp mouse gun does seem like a useful defensive tool. I hope we get pics on your decision.

I just keep a revolver duct taped to the back of my toilet tank. A little trick I learned from The Godfather.

My wife asked me the other night;"Is that your Bersa in your shorts, or are you just glad to see me?"

What could I say without getting into hot water.:o

P3AT

I have to give almost nothing but praise for the lowly little Keltec P3AT. First, I have to say is not a pleasant firearm to shoot. Out of the box it is almost painful.
One thing that made it tolerable to practice with was adding the little mag plate which allows a "full" two finger grip. :)

It's two greatest points are that mine has gone bang every single time the trigger has been pulled and that it disappears in it's holster in my pocket. That is exactly what I need it to do.

One more thing. I know it fired and survived a bad batch of Summit ammo that kaboomed mine and other SW Bodyguards.

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=557498

It has fired every and any kind of ammo fed it, except Lehigh Xtreme Penetrators. Those will fire in the gun, but they won't chamber from racking the slide.

TCP

A coworker of mine has the Taurus TCP and has nothing but praise for it. He has tried lot of different ammos with it and it works every time.

Bodyguard

The nice thing about it is the double strike thing. But it has had light primer strikes and this function was needed a time or two. It has a thumb safety, but being somebody not used to using a thumb safety, I don't use that. It just stays in it's holster. It is much more comfortable to shoot than the P3AT because it's bigger. It has some nice sights. It's trigger is a toughy though. Worse than my Keltec and the TCP.

Take a look at the Colt Mustang with the polymer receiver.
It has a nice single action trigger, locks the slide back on an empty magazine, and carries nice.

I seem to have about every .380/.32 made in the last 200 years (well slight exaggeration) love most of them and have some favorites that I carry often. The other day however I acquired one of the new Glock 42's which has quickly become a favorite shooter. Anyone interested in a CC pistol would be wise to check out one of these easy shooting compact pistols before making his decision.

I just picked up a LCP on Sat. Not because I thought the LCP was the greatest thing ever, Or that a pocket pistol in .380 is my best option.

I found after selling my TCP I missed the ability to have a stick in your pocket for a run to the store option.

Not a whole lot of difference between a LCP and a TCP. Ruger has outstanding customer service. So if I have a problem I know it will get solver post haste.
And it was on sale.
What you gona do? Its a niche gun to fill a niche.
