I carry a .38 snubbie everywhere. I got into a debate with a glock nut about standard pressure 38 being a low impact sd round. I dont agree. I want to hear your opinions on this matter.
My uncle was a Ft Worth policeman for 28 years. He killed one man while on duty. He was carrying a S&W model 15 loaded with 158gr round nose lead bullets. It took one shot for an instant kill. Tell your Glock bubby he's full of beans.
Ive got an old flat latch model 36 that I fill with reg loads....Ive got complete in the ole workhorse. BTW, I dont even bother with hot loads with ANY of my guns-old or new. Its almost like bullets never had stopping power until +p ammo came along for some people
I had faith in the 38 Spl. in the 70/80's and there is no doubt in my mind today! Today's design's just blow the old stuff away. It has all ways been and all ways will be about shot placement. I carry Horndy CD in my 49.
I try never to argue with a glock guy...LOL too much one sidedness and fan boy loyalty ......That being said my CCW is a snubby with 5 rounds of +P's..
I am confident they will be plenty of fire power and enough ammo.
The standard pressure rounds are fine. I use 158 gr standard pressure hp in my SW 638. I guess I am somewhat of a fanatic, too, though, just revolvers instead of glocks!
I found that I wasn't carrying my Glock 23 very much because of the bulk and weight, so went to a Ruger LCR. I carry it a lot more than I ever carried the Glock.
Carrying anything is better than carrying nothing. The Glock is now my car gun.
The 38 spl is a grand ole round. It can be loaded down to under 600 fps or souped up to over 1000 fps depending on the bullet size and type. A very fine round indeed.
