In the dark of the night with no hearing protection I'd say the .45acp trumps a .357mag any day. That said I've always felt a 44mag. or .45 colt loaded with 10gr. and 8.5 gr. of Unique respectively make the best all around load for just about any application. Remember what the guy said "You're .357 may not expand but my .45 will never shrink".
