.357 Mag vs HOT .45 Colt

You're not going to be using H110/W296/Lil'Gun in a standard-pressure Colt.

In the other hand, there are some definite (theoretical) powder choices when using longer barrels:

(Note Unique runs out of gas, and barrel friction takes over at longer lengths)

The thread title says "HOT .45 Colt" for a reason as in not standard pressure. What, did you think I was asking a comparison between .357 and some standard pressure .45 Colt that's been left out in the Arizona sun for a few hours?

OK... how hot do you want to go?
(BTW: that reply above was written for some 1873 shooters)

But let's play 30,000psi (theoretical):
Now Lil`Gun and 296/110 come into play with suitable case fill

Looks good to me. I don't think an extra 60-70 fps is worth the added length.
