.357 for bear

The belt fed 357 is on hold due to homeland security so now I'm working on a mortar that fires honey and pic-a-nic baskets.:)

357 for Alaskin Bear

Yes you can however it would be very wise to save the last round in your magazine for yourself.

Cheers & Tighter Groups: Eaglesnester:rolleyes:

Let's just leave it like this, bring the bag of bacon and the biggest gun you have and hope for the best. When you throw the bacon and run the other way you can use the gun to make noise to convince the bear to check out the bacon instead of the noisy smelly two legger running for his Land Rover.

P.S. Salmon fishing must be really cool to risk getting your head bit off by a bear. Isn't all that salmon I see at the store any good? :D

Bears

I know nothing about bears so um... bear with me

I think even thought stats support spray people have a hard time trusting in a spray as much as something as physical as a bullet. Myself I would just NOT go fishing if there was a good chance of seeing a bear the size of my Pathfinder. If I did however I would take spray ,a handgun chambered for a round able to deliver roughly the same energy as a diesel locomotive at 60mph and a friend with the same. I am a huge fan of the Nuke it from orbit way of thinking so see no reason to try and get by with a pea shooter when there are 400-500 caliber handguns. Like any self defense situation use enough gun AND train for the even.

Seriously though, there seem to be some real experts here with real world knowledge of the matter. Listen to the experts.

Anyone seen the handgun chambered for 50BMG? That should do the trick no?
You will still loose an arm but it wont be from the bear.

A good reference and read is an ACTUAL bear guide and Alaskan resident Phil Schoemaker (not certain of the spelling of his last name). He is a very experenced guide and very knowledgable gun guy. Instead of theory you get experence.
